Seeing if I can get Audiovox CCS-100 installed on my wife's Vstar 1300 and need to make a clip to hold the cable end. I need to make a retainer to hold the able end on the crank.

Might you know where I might get a piece of spring steel to fabricate the clip? The end dimensions are about 1" at the widest to 1/4" by about 2" long. Knowing my luck, I have to make a couple of prototypes to get it correct. I've tried auto body clips but all the ones I have found have holes in the wrong spot.

Thanks in advance,

Roy

P.S. Yes, I have tried parts supplied in the CCS-100 box and they will not work for this particular application.

McMaster and Carr,... They have a online catalogue that has,....well,.....everything and gives excellent discriptions of product spec's. Ya really have to see their catalogue to believe it. Their order entry and shipping dept are second to none and can typically have something that you'r looking at on the page,.In you'r hand the next day.

You can buy shim stock and spring steel in various sizes and thicknesses at any machine tool supply house like Western Tool & Supply in Santa Clara, or even at Graingers.

Another source of spring steel of varying widths and stiffness is no further than the dumpster at one of your local lumber yards or other store that receives bulk shipments.

The steel strapping used to unitize loads on pallets is just what you need... and it's free and readily available.

Good luck!
