I have Avons on it now. Front is OK, back needs replacing. I found an Avon AV50-SP in the same size and rating as what is on it now. Just wondering what the difference in SP and ST tires are.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark, I know a limited amount about tires... but I hear my friends that DO know a lot about tires talk all of the time. I'd expect the difference between these tires is the rubber compound's hardness.

Sport tires = too soft (wear out fast)

cruiser tires = too hard (skate off the road when leaned over)

Sport Touring tires = just right... well, maybe

The FJR is heavy & will tear the crap out of the softer compound of sport tires in no time. I've heard a lot of talk of having stiff sidewalls for heavy bikes, too.
