spare key

Anyone care to share where you hide your spare key on the bike if you carry one? Looking for ideas.
If anybody tells you....it wouldn't be hidden anymore.

I may or may not have a spare key that's stashed in a secret place that shall remain secret.

Originally, a spare may or may not have been hidden on my bike in case the original soft-metal key bent or broke. However, if the original breaks off in the ignition, a spare key won't help.

 
Our keys up here (and Europe) have the immobilizer chip, so are much fatter..... I put one in my inner jacket pocket. The red master key stays in a safe place at home, because if you lose it, you buy a new ECU if you need new keys. Not sure if we can program a third working key, so the one in my jacket is the only spare. I do keep a spare chip key at home in case I need one to program.

Can't program a third. It's the ECU that is programmed to each key's unique electronic ID. The ECU only has provision for two (black) key identities.
Put my spare, together with a spare disc lock key, an anti-theft hawser padlock key, and my home front door key, all on a lanyard round my neck. On a trip, I always have that round my neck.

If I lose that, my head's come off, so I probably wouldn't care.

Can't think of much I protect more zealously than my wallet. Having extra keys made is another NEPRT subject, so there's little point in mentioning that any locksmith will cut you an FJR key for three bucks or so out of good sturdy metal. I held it with a pair of vise grips and after a minute on the bench grinder, I have a very slim profile spare key that slides into the inside pocket of my wallet. I have a Givi trunk with a separate key now, too, so I did the same thing with the Givi key, then scotch taped them both together onto a sturdy piece of card stock in the same pocket.

Seriously, the neck lanyard has the advantage that, for example, if I'm wandering around in the evening, I can stroll into the car park and check my fuel level, tyre pressures, get tomorrow's underwear, whatever; I've always got the key with me.
