Might be a good idea though, as they supposedly have an excellent roadside assistance program.

200 is the best I've seen. I've got Progressive and it's 150 miles, which is way above average. (For comparison, after my premium, the towing is about ten dollars extra per year. Great deal.)

I asked a driver who was hauling me home after a rock strike that ruined my front wheel--he said their rate then (three or four years ago) was $55 for the pick up plus $5.50 per mile. A 200-mile tow would cost you $1,155!! (And if only the first 35 miles was free, that's 165 miles at $5.50.)

I was a bit disappointed. My wife got a flat in our van a year or two back, with our two youngest in the vehicle. She called AMA RA and they said it would be a couple hours before someone could get out. Luckily, after a while, a fine gentleman stopped and put the spare on for her. She called AMA RA back to tell them she didn't need the call anymore, and they told her they hadn't even contacted anyone, yet. Phhhffffft. I sent an email to AMA and they profusely apologize, event sent a note in the mail and said that's not their standard policy or performance.

I added RA to our Geico policy after that.
