So, I made my deal Feb 26th, for a 16 ES and decided to go for the extended warranty to boot. Replacing my 2005 with 60kmi on her. Dealer said "4 to 6 weeks". I called at the 6 weeks mark, and he said it was going to be at least a few more weeks. Tomorrow will be 12 weeks since I ordered it.

Asking for member opinions here: Should my dealer have any info now on the whereabouts of my unit, or is the Yamaha supply chain really that terrible that the dealers have no visibility on when orders are coming in?

Should I call Yamaha customer relations at this point? When I ordered my 2005, it was Mid-February, and bike came in mid-May. (Different dealer back then). Tired of cold hands coming into work on my 34 mile commute.

You're asking for opinion, so that's all this is: I'd get my deposit back, find a reasonable dealer that had one in stock (even if out of state), buy it and drive it home, and then sell my old one via Craigslist. Or, if that dealer offered a reasonable trade-in value and was within a few days ride, I'd drive it there. Be a great vacation!

I agree with Doc.

Find a dealer with a bike you can put your hands on, sit on etc. Make your deal and ride off into the sunset.

Any dealer worth their salt will FIND YOU a bike and have it delivered, taking inventory from another dealer. Not all will, but in my experience many will.

It isn't like a car where you have a ton of non-bolt on options. It's either ES or not.

Good luck. I hope you get one soon.

Cheer up, Dave. Good weather's on the horizon and you won't even need those heated grips soon enough.

But I have to ask... why would you want to upgrade an '05 that is just barely broken in?

(Just kidding! I know why, because I did the same think with my 100k mile '05 in 2014)
