MiikeH is bringing Yamaha Canada to the table and we hope to have specifics within the next week after they get their MY2010 pricing and web launches sorted out. Doc was keen to pursue his Yamaha contacts in BC, but I called him off - at least until we see MamaYama's response.

Kasey has brought DH to the table. Thanks to you all for your efforts so far! :yahoo:

Questions for roundtable discussion:

How much more sponsorship are we looking for?

What types?

Are we looking for product? door prizes? $$? (and what will we do with $$ if donated? Charitable fundraiser event? Friday meet and greet event? - and who will take charge of organizing that?)

Who is going to pursue additional sponsors? . I'm sorry guys and gals but my plate is full, so it won't be me - beyond doing the local liaison with Yamaha's dealers and zone reps as requested by MikeH and as I've agreed)

Post up please!

My opinion is we don't need any more sponsorship if the reg. fees are covering costs.

I'd like to hear what YamCan will offer; my opinion is that we only need product donations for door prizes. The more the merrier there and I may be able to get something out of my previous dealer in Abbotsford. The local Lethbridge Yam shop will give me two $50 gift certificates but how many attendees will be able to use it? $$- I can't see the need at all nor getting into keeping track of donations for a charitable cause.

Friday meet and greet event? - and who will take charge of organizing that?

I don't know what is typically done; seems to me we all just hung out in the parking lot, kicked tires and introduced ourselves to each other. ?? Would this be suitable? OR find a large gathering room which would will be ideal. Dave would the Kusk. banquet room be suitable - I've never seen it. The Legion? Seeing as I am not currently working I have the most free time available so would be willing to set this up.

I see talk on the forum re a VR breakfast. While I'm at it I could also look into a place for that gathering. ?

Most of the Rallies , people just gravitate to the Parking Lot as Kasey said.

Possibly we could have a cooler of various refreshments, Water, Coolers, Beer, Pop etc. everyone checking in gets a free drink of their choice from the cooler on check in?????? I could cover the cost of that.

Don last year we just went to a local Canadian Tire and picked up a few of those cheap styrofoam coolers. That way no one had to transport them and if they were thrown out afterwards it was no big deal.

Although it never occurred to us to put water or pop in it...but I guess that is an option. :)

Don't think there is a Canadian Tire in Nakusp, maybe a the Co-Op!! And as far as sponsorship goes I am waiting on Andy White BC's Manager for sales to get back to me. I am sure we can get some SWAG from Yamaha. The hats at WFO were a hit in Reno and I am still trying to get some creative ideas bouced around with Andy. So...stay tuned.

Dave, what is our actual cost per person, that will give us some budget if we feel we need to purchase some SWAG for the event. I might be able to get Mark Binstead to get some shit at dealer's cost, but I haven't approached him on this yet. Just brainstorming here. I'm not sure how many people would appreciate a free spay from my business, but on the other hand I will be able to squeeze my partners for a few hundred buckeroos.

I'd say as much as we can get with the time our people have available. (Vague enough?)

I'd say mainly Door Prizes and Goodie Bag items... but $$$ are good!

(and what will we do with $$ if donated? Charitable fundraiser event? Friday meet and greet event?)
Having a sponsor for the 'Registration/Meet&Greet' would be great. We have set the fees such that we hope to have a surplus. $$$ donation would increase the size of the surplus. Any more we can provide our attendees will just make them happier! Beverage tokens were discussed, maybe we could leverage $$$ to negotiate more sponsorship with combined donate/purchase of goodies of some sort.

Dave and I have talked a bit about this. My thoughts are that it is good to have an official venue and ideally have the registration there. My vision was a tent like setting but maybe the Kuskanax banquet room would work. It has dinner seating capacity for 60 but the room capacity may be higher if set-up for 'cocktails'? My understanding is that it is attached to the restaurant so maybe we could have 'a-la-cart' beverage and food service. We could ask if they would provide the room for free based on our renting all of the rooms and on the food and beverage business. As a 'no cost, optional' gathering place, I think it still fits the 'loosely organized' style of FJR rallies but provides those new to the group (myself included) a great place to meet other players! (Note: At NAFO, I found little opportunity to really meet people until the banquet.) Thanks Kasey for taking this event on!

Not much for shopping in Nakusp I understand, but I think we will have transport vehicles heading to the area. Also, Greyhound moves stuff really economically! :)

Good on ya Don! :clapping: I'll have a Kokanee! :yahoo:

... should I be adding your name to the Sponsors page? ;)

Every Rally I have attended, People straggle in at all hours.....There is No Way We can have any kind of formal MEET and GREET.

The best we can do, is Welcome every Rider and point them in the direction of the most people, usually the Parking lot. A cool beverage will generally be appreciated.

I will be coming in to Nakusp on Wednesday, Should have lots of time to arrange for the refreshments, coolers etc.....

As far as any special requests, the local Liquor store will take care of that,

I'm thinking a few flats of Canadian, assorted coolers, some bottled water and a few cokes or 7up, and restock as necessary.

\for You Jeff, we might slip in a few Kokanee :D
