Just wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Yeah, but there will be a rift in the force... The temp site, farkledup.com, has garnered a sizable following from the ashes of the old ST.n. It will be interesting to see which local 'wins out'. Having been a lurker at ST.n, I gotta give them the rooti-toot-toot, but the noobs look pretty strong. Too bad Neil took a Newman approach to running the site. Owner/Admin absenteeism seems not to work well on these forums.

Well personally I don't see ST-N fading away, it was a strong community. They had west coast and east coast meets, Canada meets, and their own national for years. It also had numerous local area meets. It will rebound and co-exist with the " temporary " board.

There's already 900 members resigned up and it's only been back up a couple days.

BUT,....wee Highlander, will the ST-N board be structurally sound? :D ....that is the question  ....

Most definitely, it doesn't work too well.....

Too, I gotta wonder about Neil's choice of forum software... vBulletin version 3.6.4 is the latest version out; the earlier versions had some fairly well known (small) exploits. So starting out with an outdated version seems a little problematic to me, but...

Regardless, I wish them luck. But it is a pity so many years of info was just blown away...

I was among the very early members of ST.N, joined way bay in early 2001. But over the years, the character of the forum changed into something that just took too much "effort" to be a part of..... newbies blaring their entrance, clueless ***-clowns professing to be all-knowing, and the incessant boorish infighting between brands and models, even during the riding season when most folks are too busy to fish for flame-wars. I mean, when you have entire forums that are dedicated to personal attacks, and entire forums that are dedicated to mind-numbing political horsecock , well... little wonder things evolved as they did...

It was foolish to think you could have specific forums for this kind of ******** and expect the resulting hard feelings between members to not spill over into the main bike forums.

But hey, I'll still sub up again, I suppose.... there's always the "free entertainment" aspect....

Personally, while the historical data would be nice, this forced refresh might just be what it needs. Every third post there was like a "Squid vs Squid Celebrity Deathmatch".

"Hi, I like Honda."

"**** you, you're stupid."

"ALL HARLEYS SUCK!"

"We were talking about this *** hat loving Hondas, shut up!"

"Your mom!"

ugh. I don't miss it.

I re-registered! I like ST.N for it's entertaintainment value. There was some BS, but you don't have to be involved. I haven't registered at the farkel site yet. A site personality didn't grab me.

There's a post on farkledup.com today from the admin saying that since S-T.Net is back up he intends to shut down his forum within a week or so.
