Hey all,

Looks like spring has finally sprung here in South Central Pa.. Today was GORGEOUS when I finally got out of work at 2:30 this afternoon. I could here the 07 FJR calling my name all day while at my desk.(couldn't concentrate at all) I finally got to chuck the Gerbing heated stuff crack open the visor a little and roll with the smell of spring in the air. NOW WAIT that would be the smell of cow manure!!!! well you have to take the good with the bad smells. Well tomorrow doesn't look as good "RAIN" but Ill put on the rain gear and trudge through it.

I know there won't be any Cruiser's parked at work when I get there they only ride when its nice and sunny.

You can't build anything idiot proof because they keep building better idiot's.

Must be great to have a part-time job, Bill!!!

Some of us, (ie me), had to work a full shift and didn't get home until 6pm. At least I managed to enjoy a few miles on a beautiful evening though. (And I did notice that "Spring smell" in the air also).

I'll call you at 4:30am when I get up to start my day!!!

As luck would have it I didn't get forced to work overtime yesterday and could enjoy the beautiful day.

Ride safe.

Bill

Everytime I see one of these posts, it makes me glad I live where I can ride year 'round.

Oh sure rub it in :)

Some of us do ride all year 'round here in Pa. Although there may be some slight interuptions for snow/ice. It would be great to live some where where it's warm all year but for right now I'll have to put up with the changing seasons. I do want to make the cross country trip to California one of these years.

Can you make it 4:35am? (My alarm goes off at 4:30, so I might miss the phone ringing!)

Overtime is a dirty word in my book. 40 hours is more than enough for anyone to have to work.

I normally try and do four 10 hour days Mon-Thu which often gives me that 3-day weekend, however I have a client meeting today which kinda messes it up this week.

y'all are killing me. was up at 5:30 am yesterday and got home at the crack of 8 pm. Was great to look out the window and see all the bikes out and about while I was slaving away trying to make the $ that the Mrs already spent. Do I sound bitter?

Bill,

If you do take the trip west, let me know and I'll plan on joining you. Spent 35 years in the Central Valley and am pretty familiar with the surrounding areas and into the Sierra Nevada's. Not only is the weather GREAT there, the roads are also AWESOME!!!! Something that seems to be only a pipe dream here in South Central PA.

I can kinda relate as my day starts at 5am, but done by 3:30pm. However, being a public school teacher allows me to pretty much ride when and where I want through the summers and most holidays :yahoo: I REALLY don't see how any teacher can complain about their career! I've done the blue collar working thing and find it WAY over-rated.

All's we can say is (and with love), "Randy, it sucks to be you".

So when do we all want to ride? I have this coming Monday off. Anyone else?

Can't do it this weekend.

Meeting in DE all day Monday and then off to A.C. No chance for any other days off next week.

Extended forecast calls for scattered showers next weekend....we'll see as we closer.

I have 2 job interviews Monday, one at Bill's work and the other at your school Rick!. (Think Randy has resume's in as well.)

Seriously though I gotta work pretty much all next week unfortunately.

Everybody come on down to Hershey and interview. That way I'll be older in plant time than you then they can force you to come in at 2:30am and stay til 6:30pm.

Honesly I don't mind the 12 hr. days but not the 16 hr. ones. Thats why I was so glad to get out of there yesterday at 2:30pm and take THE LOOOOONG WAY HOME.

I am planning on it in the next couple of years. My son has two years of school left then it's off to college so that might be a good time to hit the road for an extended trip.

Well, Pete and I are planning to go do the 125 ride on the 19th. I know you have plans on that SAT. but I have a week of vacation coming up the week of the 4/21 "spring clean-up around the house" but I'm sure I could tear myself away to go for a ride but I have plans for Sat.the 26th.

Which 125? Above Pine Grove? If so, tread lightly. My buddy was up there last weekend and he said the road was still very dirty.

That would be the one. My brother, my cousin & I rode 125 from Pine Grove to Shamokin on Sun. 4/6 and it wasn't that dirty. Of course you always need to watch for gravel in the corners that is thrown on the road from people running off the road & dirt from farm vehicles.

We did a round trip from up 125 to 225 to 25 then a few back road to get to 209 then another back road to get back to 125 in Pine Grove & 443 then 645 over the mountain to Fredricksburg then 343 to Lebanon. We were out for about 3hrs.

Ever run 339 from Mahanoy City up to Bloomsburg?

Yes, I've ridden 339, nice road. I usually ride it in the other direction. That's the second half of the loop we usually make when we head up Rt 125. 339 is getting a bit rough in places but its still a nice road.

I meet up with my brother coming from NJ about once a month in Hamburg and ride down to Pine Grove on 895, up to Shamokin on 125 and wind around to Bloomsburg via Centralia. And then 339 down to Mahanoy City and then work some back roads down to Hamburg. RT 125 and 339 are the best roads for the day. Some of the roads south between Mahanoy City and Orwigsburg are pretty good too.

Makes a great afternoon ride.

Brian
