Hi!
I'm new to this site thanks to a fellow FJR rider in Crested Butte Colorado (see post under New Forum Members). I'm from the Chicago area. My wife and I were doing an AMA tour in the Colorado Rockies. My wife had to fly home early so I took the opportunity to complete the SaddleSore 1000 on my trip from Colorado Springs to Chicago. All went pretty well. I made great time through eastern Colorado and Nebraska. I slowed it down quite a bit through Iowa because it was dark and there are a LOT of deer through Iowa. I made it home as the sun was coming up, 1080 miles in all. I'm pretty sure my documentation is complete and correct. I sent it in this week so hopefully I'll get my certificate and license plate frame in the next couple months. The only comfort mods to my '04 FJR are XM radio/autocom intercom and a modified stock seat (top layer replaced with Sargent Super Cell Atomic Foam). While I don't consider myself a distance rider I am proud of this accomplishment and have a new respect for you guys that do the really tough rides.
Thanks,
Joe
