Has anyone tried the bike to bike communications with the Starcom system?

If so what radio's are you using?

I have a couple of Motorola model T5000 radio's but they don't have the VOX option so I'm not sure they will work with the Starcom system.

I use bike to bike all of the time with the Starcom as my riding partner in town (FJR owner) and I both have Starcoms and radios, mine is a Motorola and his is a Cobra. Both are FRS/GMRS radios. They work OK, but for high speeds (lots of wind noise) my damaged hearing has problems understanding. I have had telephone conversations at speeds over 100MPH and found the quality great, but the radio is more difficult to understand. I have come to realize and appreciate the quality of the Starcom is great but it is only as good as what is fed into it. I have heard bad cell phones and great ones.

I have become a dealer for Kenwood and I am carrying a couple of radios to compliment the Starcom, or any other system as far as that goes. I will be field testing both of these radios and I am anxious to see how they differ from the cheap Motorola I have been using.

As far as VOX and bike to bike, Starcom and I both do not recommend it. We sell a simple handlebar mounted push-to-talk switch for this purpose.

Your T5000's should work with the Starcom. The info on the site lists the 5100 series and the 5300 series as well as others. Does the T5000 have a one pin or two pin connector. If necessary I will call Starcom and ask about the T5000. Please see the links in my signature area.

If you're looking for other brands of communicators for Bike to Bike.

Check out ChatterBox USA https://www.hjc-chatterbox.com/ My wife and I both have the ChatterBox GMRS X1 communicators. We've had them now for two years and they have been working fine for us. It's nice to be able to talk bike to bike. They are VOX or Push Button.
