My Starter motor has decided enough is enough and has packed up at 65,000 miles. Does anyone have a suitable starter motor available- preferably with lower milage than my own.

Stumpy, a good re-builder can get you a another 65,000 miles out of that starter. And be advised, the started is a pain in the but to remove and replace.
I've been made aware of how much work is involved to replace the starter. Not good, but it has to be done

What would be the likely cost of a re-build? Cheaper just to buy 2nd hand?

There is a gentleman on this board... screen name FJRay, who rehabs used starters & then sells them to the FJR crew. Cost is $80.00 & your old starter sent to him for rehabbing to go to the next person. kinda' like a core charge I have one in my bike. It got a good hot workout this past weekend. I'm happy with it.

I'm not so sure about the gentleman part but I will have one ready as soon as I return from NAFO. Let me know if you want it.
