I currently have homeowners/life with State Farm. Last year, I did some rate inquiry for automobile/bike insurance. At that time, rates were not competitive with insurance that I had so I did not purchase.

I recently went to the State Farm office to update the life policy. The agent asked if I would let them do another quote, stating that State Farm had recently done a MAJOR overhaul of their rate structure. (seems they realized their customer base was aging and they weren't attracting younger customers)

WOW! What a HUGE difference! I am saving $900+ on the autos and better coverage on the feej for only $9 more!

It is definately worth a look should you be in the market or coming up on renewal.

Scab....wasn't that another if you insure everything you own with us....we'll insure your bike cheap deal?

Probably. I dunno. But $900 is $900.

...using Mr. Rogers voice...

"Can you say; Cha-Ching?"

Timely. I am hemmoraging (how do you spell that!?) money with two teen drivers in the house. I have GOT to lower the cost. State Farm you say.... Who's your agent?

Larry Currie.

They have new rates especially tailored for new teen drivers.

We've had State Farm insurance for many years, after a local agent gambled on taking us fresh-off-the-boat immigrants, out of the assigned risk pool.

In all the dealings we've had with insurance issues, they have been great. Friendly, helpful service is the norm. When we had TWO vehicles totalled by moronic drivers, in the same week, the insurance people were wonderful.

I recently got a thing in the mail from SF saying they have cut their rates and to give them a call. Personally, I'll NEVER do business with them. When I was 19 I bought a POS $400 car and I needed to insure it. I called all of the insurers and most gave me a quote of ~$1000 a year. State Farm quoted me $4000! I had been driving 3 years with a clean record.

Me: "$4000? You must have something wrong, the comparable quotes I am getting are ~$1000.

SF: "No, that is our rate."

Me: "So what your telling me is you don't want my business."

SF: Silence

Me: CLICK!

That must have been back in the day when their preffered clientele was OLD as hell and likely to only drive twice a week. (once to church, and once to the doctor's office - for a grand total of 1853 annual miles driven) ;)

I think all those clients have now died and they are in a panic for some new money.

But, if you refuse to do business on principle, I can whole-heartedly agree with that. That's why I order yammy parts from UM instead of the yammy dealer 10 miles from my house. :glare:

time to renew my Geico insurance...might look at SF for compo again - last time I talked with them they wanted all of my insurance needs but since I was unwilling they gave me a crazy insurance quote for a gray on two wheels.

since the caveman is getting his own show maybe its time to move on...

I'll give it a shot - thanks for the info.

FWIW, the quote on the FJR equaled $404 annually and includes roadside assistance. I had Geico at $395 without RA.
