My mailbox held a small suprise today. A 29.30 rebate on my FJR insurance premium due to lower than expected loss ratios on this motorcycle. This is a good thing since insurance companies share information. It sure cant hurt in keeping the rate reasonable on a 1300cc bike.

Now I am going to wait and see if they like my VFR or KLR as well.

If those dudes at state barn knew how you rode your motorcicles they'd either jack your rates ten fold or cancel your skinny *** out.

I didn't buy State Fam, even though I have 3 cars with them, because they were nearly 20% higher than Progressive. Would have had to be a significant rebate to match that.

$29.30 back from how much of a premium? that's the real root question.

Same here in this part of the world.

I have been in the Ins. business for over 40 years. I truly feel sorry for those claiments who helped State Farm obtain,

a "loss ration lower than expected". I can assure you they got "less than they were entitled to"!

Foremost Insurance Company likes FJR's in NJ as well

Yeah, it's a good thing you don't have to insure your PlayStation2 riding habits! Nordschleife in just over 8 minutes. I think I can break 8, but then my carpal tunnel catches up with me, which affects real riding, so I have to put it away for a while.

BTW smitty (at the risk of being just a bit off-topic for the thread) the tank blanket I got from you was just the ticket for fried thighs. Thanks!!

Originally had Geico even though alll my cars and other motorcycle were with SF. SF had originally erred when quoting my FJR so I decided to give Geico a try. After a year I gave SF another chance and this time the rate was significantly lower and beat Geico by a good 10%.

Have State Farm for the cars but I didn't get the bikes with them because one, they don't even insure bikes unless you have cars with them, two, they don't have towing for bikes, three, they don't cover riding gear, four, there replacement cost for your bike is what their selling for in the paper, (is that stupid or what?), five, their rates were more than twice as high as anyone else, and six, don't let the little rebate fool you, they'll jack you up latter. PM. <><

Beware... State Farm has refused to pay out for roof damage for 2 of my friends and my mother. The agent literally said it was cheaper for State Farm to have them sue rather than paying out. The states of Florida and Mississippi have both sued them. Search Google on `"state farm" sued florida`

I moved to GEICO when I got my FJR as they were $200/yr cheaper than Progressive and have a much more usable website.

There's also https://www.statefarmfraud.com/ and https://www.statefarmstillsucks.com/

Ya'll enjoy that rebate 'cause it'll be the last one since they are who paid for my totalled FJR. Sorry, dudes.

I guess they differ from state to state. Here, they do offer towing for bikes, they did pay me for my crashed riding gear, and they "surveyed" dealers for my bikes value, based on my modifications. For me it worked. I was paid within $100 what I paid for the bike new. The bike was 2 years old with 29,000 miles on her when I totalled her.

According to my agent, there has been some major rate restructuring very recently with State Farm. It seems they were not pleased with the average age of the average State Farm customer.

Yeah, whaddya do when your customer base . . . dies?

Look at what Cadillac has done in the last decade or so, when they found themselves getting into that position.

At first American National said they wouldn't insure the bike at all but upon further revew and threat of cancellation of multiple vehical policies combined with five years of zero claims on my other bike they gave in.

FIRST OF ALL, THANK YOUR AGENT. He fought for that settlement for you. That is not the norm for State Farm.

I wrote my senior marketing paper on State Farms action of cancelling every (EVERY) teenager in the state of Illinois in the 60's I can't remember the exact date. Really left 1000's of families without any insurance. State Farm just said they no longer wanted to insure any teenagers. They really pulled the rug out from under all these families. In the long run cost State Farm millions in lost business. (That is what my paper was on) Save a little today by dropping the teenagers and lose millions in the long run in bad press and bad feelings from all those families FOREVER!

They are still doing business the same way today.

If your their policyholder they will usually treat you very well, as you know. But if you are a party filing a claim againt a State Farm insured, they will not be so kind. (and that is as Kind as I can say it).
