Heres what i payed for a refurbished 2730 + free shipping ebay $ 159.99
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=120305195794

It says $ 169.99 but at the time it was marked doun to 159.99

Plus i called garmin and had the 2009 map sent to me for free
You can get the map for free, but you'll need to pay the $75.00 to unlock it when you load it on your system.

The last I heard was that Garmin wasn't giving away any free map updates to Ebay purchased units. I haven't verified this info yet so don't take it as gospel. I would check check to see which version of maps the unit is shipping with and contact Garmin to see if you'll be able to update without cost.
All i can say is When i talked to Garmin, she did ask me were i purchased the 2730, i told her ebay, she told me this was a one time deal. Map update 2009 came about 2 days later with product key

U' welcomeRE: GXM30 yes, it will work on your 2820

~One is spoken for, the other one is yours for 100bucks if you want it (the first one went for 120bucks 'Buy It Now' on Ebay in just a few hours). Sent you email yesterday via the forum. Me: renojohn2007 ~@~ goraiders.org

Received my 2730 today (Thanks John!), plugged into my existing tourtech mount and garmin audio/power cable, turned it on and everything worked including the sound (sound to both sides of the helmet via audiocom). Don't know if it's in stereo but both sides work and that's all I cared about.

Now... off to activate XM.. Had my heart set on listening to Howard Stern's B.S. via Sirius but really, I just want to hear something while riding so will find something else to entertain me so XM will work.

Thanks again John! EXCELLENT deal and the device looks as good as new (I understand they are reconditioned but you can't tell)

that is likely mono, the jack on the side of the unit is stereo. Ya, probably better than new IMO

I got one and love it. What an improvement over the 2610.Ed
Good on ya Ed!

SO HOW COME YOU GUY GOT YOUR AND I DON't HAVE MINE YET??? Didn't I start this thing?

Must be a Geographical thing :)

I picked one up today from ebay. They're an authorized Garmin dealer and the unit includes the newest map set. What a smokin' deal. Thanks for the heads up Reno!

Do these come with a fogged up screen as standard equipment? :glare: I'm on my 3rd 2730 directly from Garmin, supposedly fixed each time, and the damn thing still fogs up so bad at times you can barely make out the map. The last time they sent me a "new" one it had the 2009 map on it which is now totally useless with my 2008 Mapsucks program. Then they had the balls to want me to buy the upgrade on the map! When I can make out the screen its a fantastic unit, when I can't, not so much. They are worth $100.00 for sure....definitely not worth the kind of money I paid for it 2 years ago....

My first 2620 fogged up on a cold morning ride once. I sent it back to Garmin and they replaced the seal and I never experienced that issue again with that particular unit.

I'll leave the "new" 2730 out in the garage tonight (very cold) and see what it does in the AM and let you know.

I've filled up the 800mb of free space with MP3 tunes unfortunately and am now researching how to upgrade the online storage of the 2730. Glad to have the XM option now however!

Thanks Reno John for the heads up. I got mine yesterday. They are amazing units!

I have a couple of questions for the experts here.

I loaded some mp3 files and can't see how to put them in separate "albums". Anybody know how to do that?

Also, if you get an XM subscription, is it for only one receiver or can you use more than one, say with the Garmin and another receiver in another vehicle?

Thanks all.

~ the MP3's will be sorted by the file name of the MP3, the unit will view all mps3's regardless if you sort them out in different directories(albums?) ...does this answer your question?

~YES the XM subscription is per receiver and note: THE ANTENNA(GXM30) IS THE RECEIVER -NOT THE GPS UNIT. So, no, your scenario will not work. However, if you moved the receiver(antenna) from unit to unit that *may* work.

Ordered one today for $175. Shipped out today as well. Woot! Now I'm gonna see if I can bring back the 250W I bought just before EOM and get my money back.

I've got all winter to buy a touratech and the cradle for it.

Thanks bud!

Update, I nailed my Nuvi with Plexus to clean it up, through everything back in the box and tried returning it for a refund. Clerk tells me its been more than 30 days since purchase, no refund. She keys it in anyway, bought it with my CC, "No problem sir!". Full refund.

Woot! I just got a 2730 for exactly what I paid for the 250W. Now thats a deal!

I love it when a plan comes together...

Thanks RJ! :clapping:

I've been wanting one of these since they came out, but I just scored one for about 15 cents on the dollar of the original retail price. Selling my 2610 should get the price down quite a bit more. I will optimistically keep the XM antenna for now, but offing it would probably turn this exchange into a profitable venture!

Used the new 2730 over the weekend in the cage and was very pleased. My wife has already claimed it for her bike when she goes on long rides. She refers to it as "my" GPS and she usually is not a gadget person. Not so crazy about the built in FM modulator. However with a cassette adapter or headphones it is great. Plan to use it on long trips for the XM which is really well executed. If I go on a really long trip I may use my 276c for really its mapping and data options and the 2730 for the waterproof XM radio. Also got a free courtesy upgrade to City Navigator NT 2009.
