I didn't really want to buy the whole Stem and Stand, anywhere to buy just the nut...

I have a different Idea that I would like to make a mount.

I made my own version of the StemStand for my Garmin 276.

StemStand will sell you a replacement nut, but it was expensive.

I ended up buying a replacement Yamaha nut instead (around eight bucks I think) and atttaching a piece of 1" aluminum barstock to the top of it using three countersunk flathead screws from the underside of the nut, in a triangle pattern. A thick aluminum plate could be attached in a similar manner.

The OEM nut is thick enough to get sufficient strength out of that arrangement, and the setup has been perfect for me for over 20K miles.
