IMHO, I would try to keep the IPOD in the tankbang. Would offer more protection from the elements. In reality, it would be kind of a tricky manuver to focus on the IPOD screen and to safely keep your eye on the road at the same time. Just a thought and opinion. I have mine in a Contours hard case, but am opting to keep it in the tankbag for the reasons stated.

I have the ipod shuffle inside one of the weatherproof hard "sport case". I keep the sport case velco'd and safety tied to a 2x6 ram mount plate along with a cheap am/fm radio. I can take the ipod out and keep the case on the bike.
