The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, along with the Jules Verne Foundation, is honoring actor Steve McQueen by naming a square after him, and holding a ride in his honor.
His only son, Chad, is a close friend, and will be leading the parade driving a very special Bullitt Mustang. The parade is open to motorycle and car enthusiasts, which could include you. I hope all of you who could attend would join for a fun event. The ride is open to those who pre-register, with a small fee (I think it is $20) which will be donated to McQueen's lifelong charity, the Boys Republic (which helps troubled youth, and where McQueen stayed and helped turn his life around).
Hoping that any FJR forum members who feel so inclined can join Chad in this ride and honor someone who did a lot to open up motorcyles to a broader audience (Steve personally funded the classic "On Any Sunday" documentary, and was a life long motorcycle enthusiast). If you drive, your car needs to be built b/t 1930 and 1980. Classic motorbikes are welcome, I will find out if any motorcycle can ride in the parade.
The parade will start at Nov. 7th at 11:00am on Hollywood Blvd and end at the intersection of Highland and Santa Monica Blvd, where the Road 66 ends and where the square to be named after STEVE McQUEEN will be inaugurated. If you go, PM me and I can tell Chad to say hi.
