'Stich, Phantom, Other onezy wearers...

When sporting the heated gear with a 2 piece textile suit, it's not tough to route the cables out between the pants and jacket. I added a new Phantom one-piece to my rack not too long ago and just got around to scratching my head on a "good" way to get the heated gear cable outside the suit while maintaining water proofing, etc.

Those of you with the similar situation, how have dealt with this?

I have a one piece Stitch. Not sure about the Phantom, but the Stitch has an zippered opening on the left and right hips that can be used to gain access to your pants. The zippered area has a flap that velcros over the zipper. I pass the cord through the opening and close the zipper as far as possible. I then bring the cord down a bit and close the flap. I always leave the cord installed this way even when the electrics are not on. Ridden through lots of rain and never had a leak in that area...

Not a "onezy" guy -- but, new 'Stiches are coming with more waterproof zippers (mating 'lips' that close over the zips); maybe that'll help some?

Maybe run the cable out thru an, almost-closed, pit-zip?

I've got the Fieldsheer Highlander II and I just route it through the velcro opening that allows you access to your pants pocket. Any "onesy" that doesn't have this type of access would surprise me. The velcro closes around the cable tightly and doesn't impact the waterproofness.

Yeah....I'm gonna have Olympia install feet in mine with that rubberized padding on the sole and toes so I don't slip when I take my boots off.

I do the same, sorta. My controller mounts on the plastic tank trim in front of the seat with velcro and I only have it mounted when temps are below 40f. (I use the 2-zone handheld controller and it plugs into a jack near the toolkit.) The cables for jacket and gloves go over my left thigh to the zippered opening that karstenp mentioned.

The difference is that my zipper is installed backward, so that when sipped shut the tab is at the bottom. I had a local seamstress put in the new zipper and it's never leaked. Previously, the cables did not have enough length for when I'd stand to stretch.

I added an 18 inch extension and routed the gerbings controller out of the zipper under my arm on the stich. I pass the controller through the pass through 'sleeve' on the front left chest of the suit. It clips on nicely there./ Just a little odd to adjust the twin knobs with my left hand but doable.

I'm wondering just how cold it is outside that you could possibly want heated gear with the Phantom. I rode 6+ hours one day in 25-40f with my Phantom (mostly on the lower end of that), without the insulated liner, and was more than ok. With the R-10billion stuffing the insulated liner of the Phantom, I can't imagine ever needing heater liners. In fact, my liner has never been in my Phantom. Combine that with the 140hp space heater under my crotch, and I was almost too warm.

I also do not have heated grips - only the Strom guards. Not a problem...

Previously, the cables did not have enough length for when I'd stand to stretch.

I initially had the same problem..... To fix it I cut the coiled AC cord off an old hair dryer. I spliced the coiled cord into the heated jacket cord. Now I have plenty of cord to get off the bike to fill up the tank without unplugging....but with the coil cord it also stays short enough while sitting on the bike to not be in the way.

Now why didn't I think of that?!! I've been looking for an inexpensive source for coiled wire after the wire broke in my cord and killed my heat last month. I cut out the broken section, but this shortened my cable too much. Off to find an old hair dryer......

I use the same method on my Roadcrafter suit. Works fine so far with no rain intrusion (and we do know a thing or two about rain here in Seattle :lol: ).
