Anyone know if it is possible to put both the stiffy kit AND the factory heavy aluminum rack on together? I put 74K miles on my 2005 with most of them having the 39 L top box on and loaded with no problems. I recently upgraded to a 2015A and moved my 05 top box over to it. After reading all the horror stories about broken sub frames I am going with either the stiffy kit or the heavy duty rack. I'd consider both.

Recommendations on one or the other?

Both possible? The pictures I've seen looks like they will not both go on together.

Both over kill?

Both good insurance?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know it sounds crazy, but the top case was my weak link with my '05 set up. I had a stuffy kit installed, factory steel plate upgrade on the bottom of the top case.

and the stock base plate mounting bracket. I did not baby my '05 (262k and my share of non pavement roads) What happened on the Haul Road in Alaska was that

when I hit a frost heave at "Considerable" speeds, the back of the top case split the width way clear across the back. This took away the rigid base ridge which keeps the case on the mounting plate. The case popped off and did end to end flips until coming to rest down a steep ravine. I am just now going to throw the top case away as my garage has run out of room for "Sentimental Tokens."

So in my case, the top case was the weak link. I still recommend the stuffy kit, but plastic is plastic when it comes to the top case.
