I love my '05 FJR but still am contemplating picking up an '06.

The few things I dislike about my FJR have pretty much been addressed on the 06. or so it appears. The thought flashed through my mind again as I was about to order the Powerlet kit for my FJR. But I held off, the 06 already has one. Plus, I think my wife would like the FJR with an adjustable seat. Decisions, decisions!!!!!

I was hoping in a weird kinda way that when I saw the 06 in person at the Seattle bike show I would be so taken by all the new gizmos that I'd order one on the spot. Not!

Of course, I'm thinking a few dealers will order a few extras and one will be available. After all, that's how I ended up with my 05!

I'm I the only one thinking in this totally irrational manner! I bet not! ;)

You would think since the FJR is a proven sales success that the number of them imported would increase, be it from PDPs, 'phantom' PDPs by dealers or sales projections by Yamaha themselves; thus one would think availability would increase overall. Then again, I always read that US sales are hardly worth their time. I find that viewpoint interesting considering Ducati only sold 32,000 bikes worldwide last year; I'm sure that's one reason for their 'lesser expensive' new models...Go ahead...get an 06- then you can put a sidecar on your 05 and blow away all the Urals on the road! :bleh: Be kinda like racing a Yugo against a Testarossa.....

LOL...yeah and those Urals are just clogging the roads!

:haha:

You may not get a rock bottom deal, but you'll be able to find plenty of 06's several months after intro. If you're trading, you're probably going to be working with a local dealer anyway, so I suspect you'll end up at about the same price point either way. So I'd wait.

One thing to always keep in mind is that bikes almost ALWAYS get better, year after year. If you're pulling the trigger now for the 06's improvements, you may find yourself in the exact same situation for 07's or 08's. Or somebody else may release a worthy competitor you like better (Kawasaki is the obvious choice here, but there are others looking at this market now that it is much larger than it was ten years ago). It's obvious that Yamaha is not going to let this bike languish unchanged for year after year. The bleeding edge is an expensive place to be.

Are you talking about the outlet in the glove box? I'm not counting on that POS (not that I've actually SEEN one). That box is my CUP HOLDER. That outlet will have to come out.

If I were you, I'd get the powerlet anyway. I hope to transfer my double outlet from my '04 to the '06.

And I DID order mine because of the adjustable seat, lower seat height, etc. etc. etc. Same freakin' color though (yes, I'm getting the girly clutchless bike....)

I think you should go ahead and order one. Life's very short, and you can't take it with you.

"Decisions, Decisions", Yeah I can relate, same boat as you. Yesterday, I bought the powerlet at the Motorcyle show after sitting on the '06 models. I decided to keep the '05. I convinced myself that after I install the powerlet, the heat fix and a couple of other farkles, there won't be enough difference to justify the $5K (+/-) that it will cost. Of course, I'm reaching here! Good luck.
