Hi,
I searched but could not find and answer for this.
If I respiring the stock shock, is the "soft/hard" lever still usable?
I just got my FJR and I'm 6'4" 295. I like to ride solo with the lever set to "hard". When my wife gets on I loose alot of travel. I noted all the aftermarket shocks just have the standard collar preload adjustment.
Thanks
I had "Sasquatch Suspension" do a complete rebuild of my shock for a total of $475
He uses Race Tech internals and only keeps the Yammy outter shell
You fill out a multi page questionaire about your weight, if you ride two up and how often, your style of riding, etc.
He picks a spring just for you and valves/tunes the shock just for you
Send him a stock shock and within two weeks tops, you have it back with the same stock Yammy enclosure including the two position preload lever
I used to ride only on hard, now ride on soft and if passenger, move it to hard
I'm 5'10" and 225#, but the wifey who occassionally is on the back, ah, weighs a bit more than me
not much of an issue if I'm riding one of my teenage daughters 16 & 18...
I had a forum friend send in his stock shock (he replaced it with a Penske) for me, and it was rebuilt and shipped to my independent mechanic
Then I trailered the bike in and it was installed within the same week
after 5k mi, the bike just feels brand new (also replaced the fork springs with Race Tech)
on a favorite high speed sweeper road along the coast with no potential obstacles or surprises,
the bike felt safe up to 70mph...the weekend after I got the bike back, I was funning the same curve(s) at 85 quite comfortably
amazing
