That SUCKS! I had a bike stolen from in front of my home in 85', I got it back about a year later (the cops found two guys riding it on the freeway, only damage was the ignition and gas cap.

Dumb question, was the key in it? I am asking because even though my garage is closed (almost) all the time I leave the key in the bike about 50% of the time (from now on, it will be 0% of the time). Other than the busted mirror, was it hot-wired? Or would they have the key?

Any (non immobilizer) bike can be started with a screwdriver and a hammer!

I dont keep the keys in the bikes but apparently that doesnt matter much. All I know is I have a very nice generator (complete with wheels to make it easier for the thief), 2 bikes, my car and a lot of nice tools, and the door is left open so she "can let the dog out easier"! He is 18 and losing his ability to hold himself and wont use the doggie door anymore so he has to be let out about every hour or so.

I will need to do a search but it wasnt too long ago someone on here posted a pic of some kind of anchored secrutiy system for your bike...it was designed more for a parking spot at work but I am sure it could be adopted to a garage...that thing looked pretty intimidating.

I had no idea... first I've heard of immobilizer systems, too. I learn all the time from this forum.

Scott: hope it turns out well for you.

Allen

For some reason bike manufacturers like Yamaha and Honda don't think the US deserves options like the flash-to-pass switch, the imobilizer, or color choices.

Chris from plymouth here. I sent you a PM regarding this. I will be on the look out for your bike. Since im in the area. Some or all of the plate number would be good cuz noone will ever spot the vin # driving by.

These fools are probably still on your plate. or maybe not. but anyway it will help. Call the local dealers to see if anyone is trying to get a mirror for one, and watch ebay for new listings for bikes for sale.

Just an aside.....do you guys over there have on your bikes the engine immobiliser red led system?
Thug, that is down right cruel! In the States we don't get color choices, few accessory choices and not even the option of an immobilizer.

Theft sucks! I've only been hit once personally, and I felt violated. My grandparents had their whole life's collection of personal items cleaned out by some low lifes. The fact that they were on your property and in your house is scary! Guess it is time to look into an alarm system or if you have enough time and room in your life, perhaps a dog.

Sorry about your loss!

I'm from Rhode Island and will keep an eye out. Plate number would be a good idea-I'll also put the word out at the local Yamaha shop for someone looking for a mirror for an 03-not a lot of that vintage FJR around these parts. Only seen one other at Suzy-Qs (local bike night)

Thanks for all the support! No news yet but I'm meeting with the Police Chief this morning (they havn't done a f------ thing yet even tough I gave them a suspect name on Sunday morning) As for the questions, yes unfortunately the key was in it, and no, you Canadians are far advanced when it comes to stolen vehicle technology! Thanks again Scott

Hope you get it back! Not to many 03's and I'll keep my eyes peeled for one with no mirror. I'm in Sturbridge this time of year. Where do you think this guy took your bike?

Thanks again, yes I have notified the local dealers and they were very cooperative. The plate number for those asking is Mass. AZ2299. Scott

OOPS, sorry Thug! I saw Victoria and was thing British Columbia. If my bike turns up in Aussie land I'll be more than happy to come and retrieve it. I'd love to go there! Scott

I had no theft insurance so if it's not recovered in "reasonable" condition I'm out of luck! Thank you, Scott
Scott,

May they find your bike and your peace of mind.

By the way, for your future reference, you can get Theft Insurance/Comprehensive WITHOUT Collision coverage which is the most expensive. Then you would have Theft/Fire Coverage for little dollars....my Comprehensive portion is only $51 per 6/mos w/$500 deductible.

Good Luck...

Still no luck! I have had as many people (and agencies) beating the bushes for over a week as possible and no news on my missing FJR. Please keep your collective eyes pealed. Thanks, Scott

Scott.

I live in New York near the Danbury CT. border. I frequntly ride through Ct. and Mass. . I too will keep a lookout for your bike. Good luck, Chris.
