Headed to Two Wheels of Suches in the morning, to try to find some good riding in the area. Then, next weekend, in Helen Sat/Sun on the bike with the wife. Any pointers or suggestions on the area welcome.

Great area for riding. Stop in at TWO, for breakfast or lunch and then hit Wolf Pen Gap road. The highest mountain in GA is Brasstown Bald and its just north of Helen.

Man, hit Fort Mountain, War Woman Road, Blood Mountain, TWO, and whatever else is around. You can't go wrong in North GA.

It was great. Ride for about 6 hours. Wolf Pen Gap, etc. have a hotel room in Helen next weekend. Will have the wife along. Saw three FJR's yesterday.

Hard to mess up a ride in that neck of the woods. You don't have to go find good roads there.... they find you quickly and easily.

That run on Hwy 60 between Stone Pile Gap and Morgantown is MADE for the FJR. I could run that roller coaster back and forth all day long. That section northbound when the road goes to two lanes for the trucks to get out of the way on the climb is a HOOT!! Tons of smooth grip - left after right after left - a couple of miles of 3rd gear at 6K. My buds and I would shoot for the inside of the inside lane before the apex and just rail it on the pegs, sitting on the rear tire. IF we got a little chicken, we'd just pull up 10 degrees and let the bike slide to the outer lane a little with PLENTY more room to spare.

**** - just writing about this makes me want to go back.....

I had a great time. You can't go wrong in any direction. With my bombing runs commuting, I get 41-43 mpg average. Revving through the gap in 2nd and 3rd for most of 6 hours, 56 mpg. Mileage was the furthest from my mind, but I zeroed when I left and saw it when I got home. Interesting. It took me probably a year before I was adjusted to my last bike to where, I thought and the bike did it, no matter how tight the curve. Frustrated that it's taking me so long to get that way with this one, but I've only had it 6 months. More mountain riding is in order. It was nice to see other FJRs. We staged at TWOS, but ate at whatever that cafe is at the turn on the Wolf Pen Gap loop. Very good. Great place to watch other bikes go by as you eat. Saw several folks on cruisers almost fail to navigate the turn (stop sign) or the parking lot. Dicey.
