Just **** me.

Seriously.

Raid5 box to ensure no data loss to HDD failure.

Ran out of room with old ext HDD so nooked a bunch of 'lesser' stuff.

Bought 2TB whopper ext HDD.

Started drag n' drop back up.

It failed on an Outlook.tmp file.

Oops, probably shouldn't have Outlook open when doing BU -

Ok, nuke the partial backup from target ext 2TB HDD.

Start a Win7 BU.

All cool.

Go to work.

Find out I nuked my freaking source drive.

:****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****: :****:

Yeah, I got some of it backed up elsewhere but what a royal PITA.

Being the PC professional that I am, I can say with a completely straight face that I've never done anything like that!!!!

**nobody can see me in here, right? **

To this day, I triple check what server I'm on when I do an "rm -Rf" on a unix box. Something about being the master backup server when I did it instead of a backup client. oops.

Classic human error **** up.

Early in the AM, no coffee.

In a hurry to get to work.

Done it a million times.

Run a new to me software app (Win7BU) on a PromiseTX2 raid.

Fortunately, about 20% got saved.

Unfortunately, that 20% is crap I could care less about. :angry2:

Fortunately I do have way older backups somewhere, and recent stuff is out on candybutt.org servers.

Still.

I do this for techie crap for a living and to make an error of this magnitude is simply unacceptable.

At least the only one I ****** was me.

In the words of Red Forman, from "That Seventy's Show"

:angry2: DUMB ASS! :angry2:

What's a hard drive?

Makes ya hate technology. Never would have done that with a hard copy.

I feel your pain.... some how. ;)

At home now, and yes, it's worse than I thought.

Where's the icon with guy shooting himself in the head?

I lost so much of my stuff it's not funny.

This is where I thank my Backblaze backup app that runs in the background 24/7...in addition to Time Machine copying to a backup HDD. :D

I feel your pain, BTDT with Windows a few times...

Not WinDoze fault - all operator error.

..but I loves my Mac!

I am with Don. I have no ******* idea what you did and don't understand what you said but with the proper application of whiskey and explosives it can be fixed. Won't be a Puter anymore but sure as hell will be fun to watch. :yahoo:

!.) Sorry, Don. It hurts when your human-ness shows up at the time you need to be the nerdy-geek, perfect in your element.

2.) It sounds like Don, Ray and I could put your machine out of it's misery. You could sell tickets to recoup your loss.....

If it can't be fixed with a hammer...you have an electrical problem!
