Took a ride Sunday, just a little trip to the Post Office!
route
Left a little late as it was sooo cold here...
Took that pic here at Magic Mountain where I pulled over to plug in the electric vest!
This is north of Bakersfield, Hwy 65 I think, straight road through dirt but great traffic!
Finally started to see some sweepers
These are the hills I plan to cross!
Made the turn onto the 155. A little reality check!
But the road is getting a little more promising!
And the weather taunts me!
As the road began to climb, the terrain quickly changed!
Now there's dirt with Rocks and Bushes! Man do we need some rain!
Here's my barn shot!
( Nothing to do with this ride! )
And my first Post Office of the day. Woody,Ca.
Turns out the roads were empty as everyone was at church!
On up to Posey,Ca.
Back down to Glennville,Ca
Promises of things to come!
From here it was over the summit, and although it was forest, it was dry forest and didn't make the best pics. Add to that, the road was gnarly with sand and gravel. It might help the cars get traction during ice and snow, but it was treacherous on two wheels!
Managed not to pull any back muscles, saving rear tire wash outs, and reached the summit!
Now the view on the dry side was spectacular! Even the pictures show how fast the elevation drops away!
Stopped in Kernville,Ca
Around Lake Isabella
Stopped in Weldon,Ca.
Then the town of Lake Isabela
Not sure if I'd ever be in most of these places, but you have to go look for the Post Office in Bodfish,Ca.
I came through here last summer finishing up the Tour of Honor ride and saw more water here! These rocks should all be submerged and the hills should all be green!
Speaking of the TOH ride, I noticed Hwy 184 that claimed to parallel the 99 south and join the I-5 at the bottom of the grapevine but was too tired then to chance a "shortcut"! So this ride was a great chance to check out another new road! Besides, I hadn't even ridden 300 miles yet!
way on the outskirts of Bakersfield and headed south!
And sure enough, a very enjoyable detour down to the base of the Grapevine ( which is a pretty famous place due to the very long steep grade!).
Quick shot of Pyramid Lake
Even the L.A. traffic was good to me today!
Left at an easy time and got home before dark. 390 miles of mental health! This really is an amazing motorcycle!
