It occured to me talking with several guys that many have based past experiences for the reasons they don't ride a particular place, or ride a particular time, avoid certain highways, no riding on a particular day etc. But how many of us don't ride because they are superstitious? I've heard someone say they don't ride if they "smell rain", never ride on friday the 13th, my cat gives me signs not to ride, and I probably haven't touched the surface on why people think this way. Do you have something superstitious? Do I have one? Yes, I don't begin a ride on fridays at 1pm ever! I've already had 2 accidents when I did, and its something I am always aware of, oh, and never on thanksgiving day ( I got ticket), the officer was thankful for catching me and I was unthankful for cutting out on a family dinner.

I rode today

didn't care it was Friday the 13th

still here. :D

No, can't say I've never not ridden due to superstitions....

But if I win a race on Saturday, I'll wear the same socks on Sunday! (phew!)

Everyone knows that Lucky Socks Rock!

Dude!

You need to lay off the weed.

Well, I don't ride naked...ever :D --and I don't wear AXE body spray when I ride...having to out-run all those hot chicks is a real *****!

-You can always expect more cops (and DWIs, DUIs) on the roads during any of the 'Why don't we get drunk and screw' holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years); thus I avoid riding my bike at those times- but that's not superstitious, just prudent.

Do you have something superstitious?
Nope. I walked under a ladder yesterday as well......on purpose.

Couldn't understand why some co-workers cringed. :dntknw:

Not supestitious at all; though I do believe that I can sometimes smell a pending rain storm. I think it has something to do with the ozone created by a thunderstorm, but the air does sometimes smell different to me just before a rain. Rain doesn't keep me from riding though.

I try to ONLY ride on "honey-do" days. This gives me approximately 365 ridin' days to choose from!

I don't ride around where I live at night because of the wildlife. Things like Roo's, Wallabies (like a roo) and bloody wombats! now these *******s can be about the size of a beer barrel on stumpy legs and have been known to rip diff's out of trucks when they have been hit! And hitting a 6 foot roo or bigger can really upset your day. :D

+1

I agree that wildlife can ruin your day. When I am out in the evening I generally try to follow a cager who is going along at a reasonable speed and let him clear the road for me.

I've got three black cats and I rode to work on Friday the 13th. I'm going to go walk under a ladder tomorrow. :D

I've heard: that riders at the I.O.M. -- when they ride over bridges (under which the "little people" live) always say, "Good morning Fairies" or "Good afternoon/evening...." (as the case may be). This is to be for good luck; and is, apparently, pretty widely adhered to. I don't know about "in the heat of battle" tho.....?

I do that when I ride through San Fransisco.
