Hey folks, this is the first motorcycle I have owned that has a plethora of suspension settings, does anyone have a good baseline set up for a 230 pound rider?? Thanks!!

I'm the same weight as you are and I use Jeff Ashe's settings that you can find in the Bin o'Facts. They work great for me.

+1 on Jeff Ashe's (aka "HaulinAshe) settings. Looks like the actual thread "New Suspension Settings" has been brought to the top. Some good stuff in there. :clapping:

And welcome to the Forum. A plethora of solutions opinions and etc.

You can set it up and get it close, but the FJR is woefully undersprung from the factory IMHO May want to look into a spring kit...

Get an Ohlins, Penske, Wilburs rear shock if you are a large bloke. Does make a significant difference

Man, you ain't fat until your only options are to join Los Robustos M.C. and buy aftermarket suspension to haul your *** in comfort.... just sayin'. :D
Welcome!
Or, until you need one of these.

I see you have an '03 model. Unfortunately the Gen-I FJR (03-05) is notoriously undersprung, even moreso than the Gen-II (06-07) or Gen-III (08-10).

I'm assuming you recently purchased the '03 used. If it has more than 50,000 miles on her, you should seriously consider replacement suspension both front and rear, because it's probably worn out.

If you're under 50k miles and looking to get the most you can from what you have, try this...

New fork fluid, 10 wt., 120 mm oil level (Honda Pro SS-8 10 wt., or RaceTech Ultra Slick US-2 recommended)

Front Preload - 2 segments visible

Front Rebound (Black knobs on top) - 6 clicks

Front Compression - 12 clicks

Rear Rebound - 6 clicks

Rear Spring Rate - HARD

If that doesn't work for you, start saving your money for new suspension.
