I test rode one of these today. It was a gorgeous silver beast. If I was in the market for a cruiser, this is it, bar none. Up until today's test ride, the V-Rod was my cruiser of choice. This thing will school a V-Rod.
I was on it for about 20 minutes. The thing is huge! There's no hugging the tank with your legs. That massive tank holds 5 gallons, enough for a good cruise. The rear tire is HUGE, 240 section spun by a shaft via a 5 speed. This thing really only needs a 3 speed. It literally does not matter what gear you're in. Twist the throttle and it feels like the pavement is wrinkling beneath that giant rear wheel.
The bars are wide with an LCD bar-style tachometer the focal point between them. They are drag-style bars, not those ridiculous looking ape hangers ya see The Motor Company riders slogging around with. The speedo and other gauges are basically useless sitting atop the tank. You have to take your eyes completely off the road and look down to see anything. I never once looked down at the speedo. I was having too much fun twisting the throttle.
It doesn't handle too badly for a 700 lb. cruiser. Suzuki fitted the 109 with upside down forks. There's no front suspension adjustment, hell it's a cruiser. Here's something novel: A cruiser with brakes that actually work. Radially mounted, 4 piston calipers, squeezing dual 310mm discs. Rear brakes? Who cares, I don't use 'em.
1783cc's, liquid cooled, dual plug/cylinder. This thing rocks! Can ya tell I liked it? If you get a chance, go take one for a rip.
Oh, and just for ***** & giggles...I did a big smokie, brake stand burnout. It doesn't take much throttle to loosen up that big rear tire when you've got that kinda torque between your legs.
