Pitts. You think an R1 handles? Ha. Airplanes are indeed the ultimate machine, and the piston engines greatest expression. And zork I defy you not to get a tingle when a Connie starts lightin off 28 cylinders of pure joy X4. ;)

I just got back from Oshkosh Airventure. A regular event for me. Talk about heaven!

We had a Connie last year at our local air show (that was Last weekend, too!) BEEE AY YOUTIFULL!! Also have had a B-29. B-25, B-17, C-54. Mustang, Bearcat, Wildcat, Hellcat, Sabre, P-39, F4U, Mig-17, F-15, F-16, A-10 and on and on. And that's just our little ol' two day show here in the heartland. My job? Ramp Crew Boss. Oh, the agony! :D

Me wuv pwanes. It's all good.

A perfect day for me is a sickle ride to the airport to go play in my Decathlon. Soon to be F1 Rocket. Which is to say nearly all the fun of a Pitts, just about 75 miles an hour faster. That Pitts is a sweet ride. Sorry, Feejers (and all bikes) are fun, but 3D flying is just a hoot. And talk about flickable. I was laughing outloud the first time I flew a Pitts and rolled it. Talk about agile and powerful. OH YEAH BABY!

Still waiting for the plug in so I can watch the vid... on dial up here. Until the end of the week. The I'll get broad band. Finally... Thanks for the link!

Motorcycles and aircraft are definately close cousins. They both capture the same basic elements of freedom, speed and balls out fun. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Zorkler, we need to get you up someday. I don't even need to guess about you having a change of heart. :good:

Radman, Yo Howdy!!! and what you said x2. B)

Stef, outstanding find. Thanks for sharing it. :pilot:

P-38. Woof.

Was as the Camerillo Air Show a couple of years back. Very small regional airport. End of the day, the pilot of a Navy Hornet climbed up the ladder and buttoned in. The PA crackled that the pilot would do a fly-by before returning to Pt. Magu NAS. Sure 'nuf, he takes off, get several miles out turns and flys down the center of the runway and does a series of snap barrel rolls. Huh, that's pretty cool, I thought as he roared off to the west as the PA crackled that we should all give a big round of applause, which we do.

Five minutes later, the PA crackles that 'the surprise' announced earlier that day would be arriving shortly... Out of the setting sun in the western sky, you could hear him, but you couldn't see him and then, BOOM! Just 500' off the ground, full balls to the wall with that neat donut pulsing around the plane just aft of the cockpit. BOOM! He yanked back on the stick and pulled up way steeper than I thought he could at that speed, leveled off and came round for another super-sonic pass, BOOM! All this less than 1000' in front of me! Now that's cool!

Neat little free game to download...

Great video! A pilot friend was just at the house today to tell me of the stick time he got this weekend in a P-51D. Dual seat/stick model. Flew out of Van Nuys airport with an instructor and zipped around for an hour. Aerobatics, etc. Swears it was the most fun he has EVER had with his clothes on. ;)

TWN, if P-38 WOOF is a general comment, I COMPLETELY concur. If it's an answer to my query, I don't think so. Man, that one is bugging me. Finally emailed the producers to ask them what it was.

Man, if I could get an hour stick time in a 51, I'd make that my next vacation. One of these days I hope to fly my own plane out to Van Nuys. THAT will be a trip!

I think the twin engine rig that the P-51 flew alongside is either an A-20 or B-26 medium bomber type. :)

Douglas A-26 Invader. Just got confirmation from the film's producer. That was quick!

Took all of what? 15 minutes?

Jim LeRoy has flown in TH many times and two buddies of my crew for him. I was one of the guys holding the poles during the ribbon cut. Unfortunately this is the day AFTER I got to stand on the runway at OSH for his performance. I was sitting out in the grass while Patty Wagstaff was flying. Yes, she is still all that! Scared the crap out of me a couple times. I think she did it on purpose. I loved it!
