We decided to stay at a place called Two Wheel Inn on our trip up to Deal's Gap, NC. Nobody mentioned it when I researched Tail of the Dragon on the forum, and it does seem like it was just built recently. Along with the usual amenities like cable and wi-fi, check this out: each room has it's own garage, right next to the door to the room. It's just big enough for two motorcycles. The button for the garage door opener is inside the room. The roof has perhaps a 5 foot overhang, which leaves plenty of space to relax out front or wipe down the bike if it's raining. Which reminds me, lotsa rain in the forecast later today, so I better get going.

I stayed there a few years ago. It was nice and the couple that owned the place were very much involved in everything...friendly folks.

Well, we've been here two days. The rain finally cleared out, hurray. Had a great time blasting through the T of the D: my first time. All I can say is wow, what a ride. Will post a couple pics of me n Kathleen when I get home. Sure enjoyed my stay here at the Two Wheel Inn. By the way, not to hijack my own thread, but we found ourselves answering mucho questions about my car tire, and Kathleen's '73 Honda CB 350 four. Met some great people on the trip, and though we had our share of trouble with one of the tires on the van, all in all it's been a great experience thus far.

Edit: problem fixed, two new tires on the van, and we're headed to Gatlinburg for the night. Gonna head down 441 for an hour or so toward Cherokee.

WHERE'S THE PICCIES!!!!!

WE WANT PICCIES!!!!

And none of you. Just that cute daughter of yours and that cool retro moto!

I stayed there last year. They were full except for the small apartment above the owner's garage. It was quiet, spacious (full kitchen, livingroom, and dining area), and the customer service was outstanding.

OK so I'm a little slow. But as promised here's the pics.

First one below, I snapped one of Kathleen on her '73 CB350 four. She was feeling pretty nervous in the mountains, but did a great job leading the way for old slowpoke dad.

Below I'm feeling on top of the world here, in more ways than one.

Here's a picture of my neighbor just after he stuffed his Harley into the garage next to his room. Now I know why they call em hogs. He only had room for the one bike in there.

Finally, here's a picture of the bikes just before we put em to bed for the night. They both fit in the little garage just fine. 10 feet to the left is the door to our hotel room.
