Tank Pad Removal

My riding buddy has an 07 and his tank pad is in pretty bad shape. He's concerned about damaging the paint on his tank when he removes it. Are there any tricks in removing them or do they just come right off? Thanks for any advice.

Heat with a hair dryer and peel off slowly. Any residual goop can be removed with WD40 or "Sticker Shock" - from your local auto store.

Basically what Roger said...

...but light heat (too much can make residual worse,) and peel very slowly. Much of the residual can be pulled off by 'dabbing' with a high tack tape prior to final clean with and adhesive remover ("Goof Off", "Sticker Shock", "Goo-B-Gone", etc...)
