I have researched until I am blue in the face so I will just ask my questions. I am ordering the ZUMO very soon and want to use the Techmount. I have a 2003 which means my stem nut is 32mm. I have read that the outer diameter is the only difference between the 2003 stem nut and later models. But if that is true, why is the MCL setup not available for the 2003 models? The site I looked at said only for 2004 and later. So will the "Cycle Gadet HG-10998" fit my 2003?

Second question. If the techmount will work, is that all I need? To put another way, will the included pieces that comes with the ZUMO fit right on the Techmount?

I would love to hear from any who can help, especially those who have this exact setup. Thanks in advance.

It was the guys at Tech Mount who told me the inner diameter of the stem nut is the same for 03 and up.

Tech Mount drilled and tapped one of their stem nuts for me to take a 3/8 thread RAM ball. It was $30-something shipped. They made it and shipped the day we talked about it. Just give them a call. They're nice guys. I went that route because I already had RAM stuff for other devices and it keeps things flexible for me. The Zumo also comes packaged with RAM mount stuff, so you're good to go. Haven't installed it yet because my biggest torque wrench only goes to 75 ft. lbs. <_<

The Tech Mount itself is very sweet. The mounting cradle that comes with the Zumo bolts to it. I'll let the folks who own one extol its virtures.

I had to drill new holes in my Tech Mount in order for the Zumo mount to fit. Was no biggy cuz I had a template to work from.

JJon,

I have the exact setup in my 2006 AE. Techmounts Part Number 10998 I used in my 2003 FJR fits perfectly in my new 2006. Just had to drill some extra holes for the Zumo as Spunkmyer mentioned. You may look at it in my Zumo installation website section:

I'm sure you'll love your new Zumo !
