Silver, checkwrecks, laf thank you and the rest of you guys for your input on the

missing engine, it finally warmed up enough to get out to the garage.

Hooked up my computer to the PC lll and started it up, at idle it started to miss,

so I checked the throttle position it was at zero. to make a long

story short I loaded a custom map instead of the stock one that

I had been running, took it out for a run and it runs great, hasn,t

missed yet, so hopefully that fixed it. thanks again

I thought they all came with "zero maps" (iow: all settings at 0 - make no changes to OEM map).

Glad it was an easy one. Did it take firmware/software updates while you had it hooked up?

Great you are riding and smiling again.

yes because I had wireless on my laptop I went online to www.power commander

and downloaded the updates. I had this custom map in my computer, I think I

downloaded it from one of these sites for fjr, but had never used it.if the bike

keeps running the way it did today, then I will be very pleased

thanks again

Great to know it was an aftermarket item and not an issue with the 2005's. We all know the 2005's are BEST of the Gen1 series. Not match though for the superior Gen2's! ;)
Fixed it for yah Bluesie...
Oh man that bird impact has really affected you mind Don. Poor guy, we understand. ;)
Gen2 is Japanese code for, "Ooops we really screwed up this time". :D

I am getting ready to install a power command PC3 on my 05. Please tell me its worth it and what you liked about it. I am planning on downloading the Smoothness map. Why is that better than the map it comes with.

blueman,

Mine had the PClll installed when I bought the bike,

it only had 2100 miles but the thing is I have never

ridden a stock so I can't tell you how much better

it would be for you, all I know is I put that Smoothness

map in it last week and it runs like a bear, best

since I've had it. maybe some of the other guys

can tell you more.

ride safe, from Central Florida the year around ride :yahoo:

Blueman, My '05 was experiencing low speed throttle abruptness. On/off at small throttle openings. TB Synching didn't solve the issue. Put the PCIII in w/smoothness map. BIG difference. Throttle is very "smooth and linear now. As a side benefit, it seems to be running marginally cooler. It runs w/two bars alot longer before going to 3bars now. Your mileage may go down...the grin factor that the right hand controls is addictive. YMMV
