Just wanted to say thank you to all the good folks here who never failed to give up good info and some friendly banter. I have moved on to a VStrom, mostly for a change of pace (slower) and the option of exploring some forest access roads around new england.

thanks again

Eric

Happy trails! Glad we could help. Everyone I know who has a 'Strom really enjoys it, so I reckon you'll have fun on the new ride.

Nothing says just because you switched bikes you can't pop back in here now and again and say howdy. Just sayin' ...

I get the "change of pace" thing and am enjoying my DL 1000 V-Strom more and more on gravel, backroads and Forest Service roads. Too bad you didn't (couldn't?) keep the FJR, too. As long as you keep riding ...

Have you found your way over to the Stromtrooper forum yet? Enjoy your new toy, and don't forget to oil and/or wax the chain! ;)

My buddies and I hooked up with a fellow that was riding a V Strom two weekends ago and had blast hitting the twisties in the Bear Mountain region of Upstate NY. Enjoy the new ride!

Thanks again .... so far I'm having a great time on the Strom, on secondary roads it is one of the more neutral handling bikes I've ridden and my wife actually prefers it to the FJR as a passenger.... 80% of the time it is a better bike for me, on tight bumpy backroads it is a joy and this is where I ride most often. It is when the speeds get much above 70mph that I really miss the FJR. The Strom feels almost flighty at higher speeds and really does not do too well in a crosswind, where the FJR just punches through with great stability. Both are certainly great motorcycles and quite different from each other too....one each would be nice if you have room in the barn.
