Since White Pine Fever and WFO (and even before), there seems to be a significant amount of growing interest in LD Riding and the Iron Butt Association among FJR forum members. I mentioned this to IBR RallyMistriss Lisa Landry, and she suggested I make the following post:

As most all IBA members know, the IBA is holding their 2nd "IBA National Meet" in Denver this year. There are indeed a select few positions still open that Lisa said I could offer to forum members here. So if there are any folks are interested in attending this event and finding out what all this Log Distance craziness is really all about, then you should register ASAP, as the event is Aug 17-19.

Now, technically, you are supposed to be an IBA member, or their invited guest. If you do not have your IBA membership, you can still attend one of two ways:

1) Get an IBA member to sponsor you. Myself and a ton of others on the forum can sponsor you... but only one guest per sponsor.

2) Earn your membership by doing a SaddleSore 1000 on the way to the event! There will be many dozens of IBA members who will be available to "sign you in" when you arrive at the end of your SaddleSore.

So there it is, folks! This is a social gathering (not a pure Endurance event), so you can come and relax, attend the multiple seminars, and kick tires and rub elbows with some true legends in the Endurance Riding community. There is also a MASSIVE Group Ride that is lead by none other that Mike Kneebone, and '99 IBR Winner George Barnes that you may be interested in as well.

Check that link above... hope to see you in Denver!

This sounds like quite a dignified and colorful event. Why, I think I might seriously think about going........oh wait......I am......after George SPANKs me raw. I'll be the one dribbling from my Camelbak.

Yes, it's going to be a crazy 10 days, and I can't wait! Looking forward to that SPANKing by Georgie-Porgie, and really looking forward to attending the IBA meet since I missed the first one. Should be a fantastic time.

And then finally, also looking forward to the slow roll home from Denver through the most beautiful country in the U.S., cetral to southwestern Colorado.

Can somebody give me a, "Woo-Hoo!"?

Give a fond F@CK YOU to CR-8 south of Ouray for me... would ya?

Awe @#$%... Just call me farking clueless. I would have loved to attend this but short notice and work commitments make it not possible.

Now if some folks at work could conveniently disappear for a week or two that might work, anyone know of any mercenaries I could hire for cheap to temporarily detain a few folks here in Silly Corn Valley? :assassin:

Hey - Thanks Warchild!

I just emailed Lisa about this very thing. I live in the area, so easy to attend.

Would someone mind sponsoring me, since my one and only documented SSK is on the "to be reviewed" list?

There is also the 22nd Colorado 1000-in-24 on the 19th. www.cofreewheelers.org

Actually, since you already have a SS1K in for verification, this is little different from those folks who are doing their first SS1K on the way to Denver, so you are good to go right now!

All you have to do is put "000" in the IBA number spot on the registration form, and write Lisa a little note on your paypal payment reminding her of your pending SS1K, and you are IN THERE! B)

Absolutely love Denver - last time I was there was in 97 - saw Broncos and Jets! I would have loved to attend but just used my last bit of "family" goodwill completing my saddlesore - oh well, wtih any luck next year's WFO will be in Colorado.
