I see from the music posts that a lot of you guys like good guitar. Dick Wagner passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Chances are you've never heard of him, but he's played the guitar parts on lots of songs you probably know. A good example is the entire solo on "Same Old Song and Dance" by Aerosmith. "Train Keeps a Rollin" is also by Dick but the first half was by his cohort Steve Hunter. They both were in Lou Reed and Alice Cooper's bands. He co-wrote much of the Welcome to My Nightmare album with Alice.

I'm glad our bass player introduced me to Dick's music and influence after we were talking about the ever-weird but talented Lou Reed when he died last year. Look up his stuff and give him a listen if you like good guitar. Sometimes the good ones fly under the radar.

I just bought Clapton's tribute album to JJ Cale last night. Excellent stuff with lots of great players and singers. JJ was underappreciated by the masses too.
