Hello All,

Thursday August 2nd @ ~12:00pm I stood atop the Grand Teton 13,770ft, via the Owens Spalding route 5.4 II. Started hiking the day before at 10:00 am reached the "moraine" where we camped at 3:00pm. Woke up at 4:00am stood on the summit at noon then back to the car by 6:00pm. That's about 10,000 vertical feet in10 miles in one day. My legs are still sore today.

There are some nice looking roads around Jackson, Driggs, etc... Next time I'll take the bike.

J.

Sounds like a great experience! You're a better man than I for hiking up that road tho  . I'll be up that way the last week of Aug myself, but you can't pay me enough to climb that hill!

Thats where this photo is taken... took the cable car up though. No way in hell my wife would have walked. We froze our ***** off when we got to the top. (wind gusts)

Way to go JackPlanet!!! I'm jealous. Sounds like a great trip. Do you plan to bag any other peaks this year? Let us know and post some pix if you have any for this trip or any others.

Your summit is a bit different than the one the ski hill lifts crest and I greatly respect your feat. Your climb should not be mistaken for the same peak as the the ski hill. Great timing as well. We have skied Jackson Hole several time s and I always wished I were brave and fit enough to do the Grand Teton! Saw some photos of a dude skiing down some of the gullies from the peak and I thought he must be nuts. The gradients were severe and a mistake meant cold toast. Bravo!

Self portrait, somewhere near the 1st rappel.

You guys are nucking futs. I get dizzy looking at the photos. Seen that hill many times, but not from that angle. And Paul Pezoldt from Lander used to climb the damn thing in the winter! Congrats to you guys!

Excellent photos, outstanding achievement. Congratulations, but I bet he view from up there was reward enough! :fans: :drinks: :good: :guitar:
