<snip> Never fear, the Great White North Liberation Army will march forward, we ain't askeered of no minutemen hiding behind trees along 212. But methinks we'll be back in Oregon soon, might have to set up camp for lots of recon runs, as it's really hard to see it all.............
Nicely done Ray...riding the box deserves many, many more recon runs!

Bill has been riding sweep all day, and we knew something was up....... and it was finally revealed here in La Grande that Bill has now downgraded his Yamaha to be Apple powered.

Being surrounded by life sapping Samsung electrons for these past two weeks I had to roast up some apples to make up more life affirming applesauce to make it through this trip.

Maupin to La Grande

we did stop at a pullout for one last look at the the mountains along the Oregon and Washington coast but the mountains were too far away and the conditions a little too hazy for good photos so we turned east and further inland on the high plateau....

We stopped in the town of Fossil for a coffee break. There was a very nicely done up El Cameo parked out front....

Many many hours went into that paint job.

The plan was for coffee only but the menu looked good and we got talked into a BLT...

IMG_3484-L.jpg

and then got talked into homemade carrot cake....

IMG_3485-L.jpg

Ray was still on his foo-foo tofu kick from the day before and had M&M's with whip cream for dessert....

Wheaton thinks I'm immature....

IMG_3478-L.jpg

and I was thinking of getting this one for the next time someone talks me into volunteering at a dirt bike event....

IMG_3479-L.jpg

Leaving Fossil we headed into Picture Canyon but you can't stop for pictures. It's OK I have video to post later....

I stopped to take this photo of an abandoned farm....

I was attaining light speed attempting to catch up when Ray and Jeff decided to stop. The closing rate made things exciting as we all almost ended up in a big pile.

La Grande was our end point for the night and tomorrow we head back over the Lolo Pass.

Bill, I don't think yer immature, I just think yer fecked in the head.

Now try and find a coozie for that one!

Nice RR Billy Ray!

I used to spend time in the summers near Fossil in the 70's.

My Grandpa used to run a wheat ranch near 19 on rte 74 by the metropolis of Cecil, population 11.

May not be 11 anymore since the store closed down.

WTF happened to my fossil collection?

I'm just going to ignore the above ramblings

La Grande to Missoula

Jeff has wanted to order up the biscuits & gravy since we crossed the border.....

IMG_3490-L.jpg

After all what is a trip to the States without biscuits & gravy in the morning to make sure the bike stays planted to the ground all day.

If Ray orders a bowl of fruit for breakfast is that cannibalism?

A short ride later we stopped for coffee and then turned on to Hwy 3 which led over to Rattlesnake Mountain just as we crossed over into Washington state....

IMG_3493-L.jpg

I would not let Ray in front of me for this section since Ray has the bad habit of sometimes doodling in the twisties and that would be a court marshalling offence on this section of road. While Ray and Jeff were taking photos from the first pullout and sneaked back to the bike, fired up and took off for tons of fun. I have video that will be posted later to prove it. The PR4's are holding up well and gave me enough confidence to take it up a notch and I'm still smiling.

This photo shows just some of the fun that was had.....

IMG_3494-L.jpg

From that point we continued to work our way east back to one of the most photographed road signs in Idaho....

IMG_3497-L.jpg

we ran into a spot of rain just as we were approaching the summit but it was short lived and was not even worth stopping to put on rain gear.

We rolled into Missoula a little later today due to losing an hour due to the time zone change so I'm cutting this short tonight.

Dessert for the evening was apple crumble....

IMG_3498-L.jpg

but it was a poor imitation of what we had in Wilberforce at CFR. I give this dessert a FAIL!

We made it into Billings, MT early today and we have speedy internet so I posted up some video from Rattlesnake Mountain on Hwy 3. This video starts from the south as you drop down into the canyon down to the river. I didn't let dad lead this time...

Enjoy.

Missoula to Billings

Today was Big Sky country as we continued our way back towards Spearfish. Bust has been talking about moving out this way from Owosso and I think we found him a nice little fixer upper near White Sulphur Springs....

IMG_3501-L.jpg

Speaking of White Sulphur Springs we took a little detour off the planned route to go into town for lunch and gas. The Montana Pot Roast special was awesome.....

IMG_3502-L.jpg

Tender does not even begin to describe the roast beef. I had no room for dessert but Ray ordered up the pumpkin pie....

IMG_3503-L.jpg

Niehart will probably saddle up as soon as I post this. Jeff is starting to run out of tire on the Super Tenere and is worried he may not have enough tire left for our run through the Black Hills on Tuesday. Tomorrow we have a short ride over to Spearfish but we are going to stop at the Little Big Horn to check that out and will probably spend a few hours there.

Ray is planning on having three Cadillac Margaritas this time.

Message to the Great White North Liberation Army.
The counter Invasion had began.

Check of the ButtLite Spotwalla page https://spotwalla.com/locationViewer.php?id=336&showHome=yes&showInfo=yes shows that the ButtLite Vlll riders have forced the border and are now ravaging through out the interior.

Please come home.

Dudley Do Right

Commander in Chief
I have no concerns about the ButtLite riders. The first time they stop at a Canadian bar they will have a quality Canadian beer and all pass out
