Please let's not turn this political. The following excerpts (in italics) are from this article:

A Las Vegas judge sentenced fallen gridiron great O.J. Simpson to at least 15 years in prison for leading an armed hotel room confrontation over sports memorabilia in 2007.

Simpson could become eligible for parole in about nine years. Grimacing, his head cast down, Simpson was escorted from the courtroom in shackles.

Judge Jackie Glass gave Simpson a tongue-lashing before passing sentence.

"Earlier in this case, at a bail hearing, I said to Mr. Simpson I didn't know if he was arrogant, ignorant or both," Glass said. "During the trial and through this proceeding I got the answer, and it was both."

She stressed that the sentence was not "payback for anything else," apparently referring to Simpson's acquittal 13 years ago in the slayings of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman.

"Everything in this case was on tape," Glass said. "The evidence in this case was overwhelming."

She continued, "You went to the room. You took guns. You used force. You took property, and in this state, that amounts to robbery with the use of a deadly weapon."

He was convicted of armed robbery, kidnapping and assault on October 3 -- 13 years to the day after his Los Angeles murder trial ended with an acquittal.

Hmmm...that number 13 again. Lucky for some, unlucky for others. It finally caught up to him.

Had the right thing happened 13 years ago we wouldn't be discussing this now.

I'll keep this open as long as the discussion remains civil. You can wail on The Juice if you want, but when the conversation turns divisive between forum members, you know what will happen.

Carry on.

Hey, it might work out for O.J.

I mean -- his golf game is likely to get pretty rusty, but what better place to search for the "real killers" than a prison? If he asks around he may get a few leads he can use when/if he gets out. :snitch:

And his experience with knives is probably a positive, too. I mean -- a shank may not be the fine cutlery he's used to, but when it comes to weapons of choice, well, . . . it's almost like he dialed ahead for reservations. :assassin:

Oops, ******* and Karma seem to sum this up pretty well. Maybe while hes in the pokey he can write another "fictional" book.

The judges comment, ignorant or arrogant, no it's both pretty much sums it up. He's been given a free pass for way too long. Too bad, he was an amazing athlete. I even remember the Hurtz rental commercials back in the day.

I am sure after the last joke of a trial he thoght he could pull it off again. The man had it all,now he is a fool with nothing!! Well deserved too.

It seems as though he really is ignorant, just as some other athletes who were recently (or currently) in the headlines. It's as if they just don't get it....that rules of conduct, behavior or criminality don't apply to them as with ordinary citizens. It's as if they believe there are special rules of grace and a different mindset or insight that's special to them.

Facts being presented in public and interpreted by a judge and jury are hard lessons that are a terrible late wake-up call! I'm not sad because of the verdict but I am sad because the man couldn't see the inevitable result of his actions. And he's not alone!

This has to make his family proud!
