Thanks for thinking of us again, Yamaha.... why must we always have to do a letter-writing campaign to get you guys to bring a model to the USA?! C'mon... we are your biggest ******* market!

But only Europe gets to have this?! Fuuuuuuuuck! :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Yamaha Europe propaganda on this machine:

Leaping forward in an instant. Blazing into the distance with grace and strength. Mixing tough, reliable cutting-edge technology and functional beauty. Tightly constructed to withstand every adventure, but with a spirit as agile and pure as the wind.
Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, YAMAHA Ténéré machines have worn their Paris-Dakar Rally heritage with pride. Styled in the rally image, they will lead you to new worlds and unknown adventures

The Lord of YAMAHA Adventures was unveiled at the latest Tokyo Motor Show and introduces new levels of Art of Engineering and style to tough, long distance adventure touring. Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies like traction control, ABS and a unified brake system (UBS), the new Super Ténéré is ready to take you beyond the boundaries of travel.

*sigh* Europe only again, that's just great.....

Still and all, it sure is a purty thang....

crap, that's HOT. I want one!

well, Europe got the FJR before us but it did eventually make it across the pond. No reason why this wouldn't too, right?

I called Cypress yesterday and they took my info. I don't know if it will help or not.

Call (800) 962-7926 if you will.

You can sign up for updates at https://www.yamaha-motor-europe.com/super-tenere/

FYI I have no financial interest in Yamaha at all. I just want to be able to purchase this when it comes available.

More pictures from the Tokyo Motor Show.

Been discussed previously, HERE.

Yo Dale, do try and keep up, eh?

:p

Me? I am missing something. What's up with that show POS? Chrome and missing most of the bike? What are they trying to say? We have one in development that will be available in a year or two?

Now, that photo that Leskid posted is interesting. Is that an actual model sold in Europe?

Maybe..?

The fact that there's a website and something displayed at a major show do mean something -- just what?, not sure...

Whatever happens, they've never sold Teneres in the U.S. before -- although, I hear, 'Giant Trailies' are popular in Europe. BMW says the R1200GS is their best selling model...

You know you just can't believe what you see (or read) on the 'net. Could be a good photoshop job? For instance: 'Leskids' pic shows regular spoked wheels -- while the Yamaha site shows up-to-date tubeless-style spoked wheels.

Still..., a 1200cc parallel twin and a drive-shaft in a Paris-Dakar style bike from Yamaha is news...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's confused here. That artsy concept mockup isn't a bike obviously, as it's missing trivial details like an engine block and 3/4 of the rest of the bike.

But in Warchild's post, it refers to the new 2010 Super Téneré so I googled and the pic I posted is the 2010 Super Téneré.

So I THOUGHT the pic I posted was the real-world version of that artsy sci-fi mockup.

Or do I still have it wrong?

OCfjr - Eric, posted something really interesting on the Honda thread currently on our FJR Forum. It was a link to the French website for the Super Tenere. French is my worst foreign language, Spanish and German are an easy breeze for Papa Chuy.

But if I've translated the French correctly, the website said that the 2010 Super Tenere is coming out at only 200 kilograms.

At 440 pounds "a sec", meaning dry, that is a true dual sport: Versus the BMW GS1200 at 535 lbs. and KTM 990 ADV at 520!

I would trade in the HD on that TODAY if it were available. you listening yamamamma?
I've found a couple of other photoshopped things that are closely based on the current XTZ660 Tenere

BMW 1200 GS: 448lbs/203kgs dry weight; 504lbs/229kgs wet weight

KTM 990 Adventure: 461lbs/209kgs dry weight; N/A wet weight

Keeping it real... ;)
