Left at 0830, home at 1500, 249miles, 45.4mpg, Snoqualmie, Blewett and Stevens passes loop. 405 to I-90 in the morn was a zoo, Think I will be looking for back ways like out the valley to Fall city. All passes were clear, dry and clean except around the top of Stevens, tad bit of sand in spots, nothing major just keep your eyes open, the usual stretches on the east side of stevens where streams run across the road from the melting snow. Speaking of eyes open as you approach the very top of stevens heading west there is a SMALL variable speed limit sign tacked on the lower righthand corner of a bigger sign and it is hard to distinguish when riding into the sun. It is 35mph and for those of you traveling 5 to 10 over the previous 60 that would be a zinger. Probably will be there as long as they have snowbunnies. Sign coming up from west is much more visible. Great day, was going to check out the Liberty Cafe on Blewett but has closed sign in window. Seasonal maybe. Had a breakfast sandwich at the I-90 exit 34 truck stop Country Pride Restaurant-not recommended-sesame bun was a brick and the ham was a shredded little topping. In the past I have had great food there and it is a convenient meeting location. Took the back way into Leavenworth through Peshastin that is a cool cut-off for those having never tried it, those that have know what I mean. Tumwater canyon was cool, little snow on the hillsides. People already running around in shorts with cameras. Going over were many vacationers with dirt bikes in truck beds and on trailers. Lake wenatchee rest area is open no coffee today (had my own thermos) and coming down the west side Deception falls rest stop/viewpoint was open. Always a good bladder stop. Not bad for a quickie trip. Scenery awesome as always.

Thanks for the ride report. Got me thinking about the next time I visit my folks who live in Woodinville. Was hoping to do the "big loop" (hwy 20), but the one you describe would be great if pressed for time. Is 20 even passable on a MC this time of year?

North Cascades is still closed at this time, had lots of snow this winter, have not heard anything about a projected opening date. When are you planning on visiting?

Is the back road thru Peshastin into Leavenworth the road on the north side of the Wenatchee River?

I would love to join a group of you west siders doing the North Cascades if you do it in July or September. I will just have to start the evening before to get over there.

Yes it is on the N. side of the river, it ties into the Chumstck rd. and into Leavenworth.

I looked at the Dept of Transportation schedule for Hwy 20 yesterday and I think they are schedule to start plowing about the middle of May this year. Lots of snow.
