Yes. There's been a disturbance in my universe. Ever since last May when I crashed and totaled my Dirty Ol Whore 04 FJR with only a paltry 226,000 miles on the odometer (Clicky), there has been a hole. Until now..........
I DRANK THE KOOL-AID, AND IT GAVE ME HIVES.
As many of you know, trying to fill that hole I purchased a BMW R1200GS a couple months back. I have been jonesing for that bike for a long time. Here she is:
Well, I sold it two weeks ago. It was a nice bike and I really liked it - I just didn't love it. That really surprised me. There were a couple reasons I think, but when it came down to it, as much as I liked riding it, it made me appreciate my FJR even more. I thought I would ride the GS more and more and the FJR less, but that wasn't the case. Guess I am just an FJR guy. There is a good chance I will own one again someday, but not for now.
So the hole was still there. Well fortunately, I found a bike to fill that hole. Another 2004 FJR. I drove out to a small town outside of Amarillo a few days ago and brought her home. Funny, after almost 8 years and 300k of FJR ownership, I finally put one on a trailer. Lame, I know. But there were reasons. I am the 3rd lucky owner of this beautiful machine, and she fits in my garage just like peas and carrots right alongside FJR#2. Oh, and this beautiful example of an 04 FJR cost me less than half the price of the BMW! Talk about value!
So let me introduce to you FJR#3, a 2004 FJR1300 w/abs:
Only a couple of small farkles, but that's ok. What I wanted was a pristine example of a Gen I and this 04 is pretty close to that.
And check this out:
Only 4344 miles! On a bike that is getting close to 8 years old! Amazing. It still has the original front tire on it with a date code of 2603.
Yes, life is good. And in my world, all things moto are back as they should be. I know many think it crazy, but for me not only is two FJRs in the garage a good thing, but a very good thing.
