A few Sundays ago I spent a rather impressive day touring West-Central Alberta with Bearly Flying (Don, that was a gas!) We did the Metric Iron-Butt - a mere 1000km - but we did it in style:

Don had a radar detector that would not stick to his windscreen - and I was relying on him for early warning :dribble:

So I went out and got an X50 and was considering the mounting options. (Don has a rather spiffy accessories bar he fabricated that you have to check out at WFO)

I figured Velcro is second-place to man's best friend so I picked up a few parts and this is the result. I had a Battery-Tender already wired to the battery, so I bought a Power Adapter with a cover and Velcro'd it to the dash, then fabricated a simple plate from 22ga sheet metal fro the X50 mount -- all stuck with Industrial-Grade Velcro....here is the front view:

And the 22Ga Mounting plate: (spray painted in Elegant Black)

Very nice!
Where can i get the plate you have? I sure could use one!
I fabricated it out of a piece of scrap 22ga steel I had handy - you will need to bend the forward edge to match to contour of the cowling a bit - I did mine in the vice - gently....

Have you ever used VHB double sided tape? (Very high bond) I call it my two ton tape. I had it on for months now and it holds in any temp or rain. If you like to remove it you need to stick some thing in between and lift it off or run a fine wire through there. Left over glue came off with soap and water...
