Sweet machine. But, and I don't wanna be a downer here, but wasn't one of the reasons you got rid of Timex that of getting out from under the payments? Uncle Joe leave ya some coinage or....?

To a degree, but the primary reason was loss of confidence in that particular machine.

The R1 was able to happen because my oldest son turned 18 and graduated High School last month, so the recovered Child Support payments on him alone is well, WELL above the monthly payments on the R1. Sweeeeet....... :D

Ah, I remember when the same thing happened to me. Better than any tax refund or overpayment credit I've ever gotten... ;) The whining from the ex was even better.... :p

And all along I thought I was the only one to get a new motorcycle when Child support ended. That was like a great big raise.

Life is good!

Dale,

Paint the heat shield and bolts satin black and add a fender eliminator. It really sharpens up the back end. There aren’t any after market cans that look as good as the stock cans. You can get race cores for the stock can for $75.00. These really deepen the sound and combined with reaming out the honeycomb in the Y pipe gives a nice power kick and a temperature reduction.

You get the beauty of the stock cans and the power and sound of after market cans for less than $100.00.

Excellent... I am on it....!

Um... hi-temp Satin Black, I assume.... :D

Canes meant to say that when you are riding the R1, you should wear Black Satin.

I want pictures of that.

By far the sweetest motorcycle I've ever heard was an '04 R1 with an Akrapovic exhaust. It was sh-weeeeeee-tah!

Scoooze me,

I thought it was only considered an addiction if you couldn't afford it.

Otherwise you are a collector. :bleh:

Nice ride WC!!

Way to go WC, it's nice to know you got your priorities straight. :D

I battled for full custody a number of years ago and won. The elimination of child support payments that did not actually go to "child support" was a huge factor in building up the collection of bikes. My wife (#2) is still debating whether I am an addict or a collector <_< .

I have been wanting...to collect....an R1 or 1000RR for a long time. WCs bike there is starting it up again. Beautiful.

I have gotten my oldest daughter (19) through safely and she is on her own now and just made me a grandpa. Second daughter is 17. She will be going to college so I might have to wait for that R1. My two sons are younger (12 and 8) so they will get to see the R1 in the garage B) .

WC, Have you got rid of the passenger foot pegs yet?
On, yes. Those and the gay-*** reflectors where remove about 10 minutes after the photos on page 1 of this thread were taken.

Also gone are the DOT-nanny labels on the fuel tank. Thank goodness for Goo-Gone...

Awesome Dale !

Uhhhh....for a nominal fee we could....uhhh...kidna....I mean "misappropriate" some of those other chitlins ! B) Yer wife gotta sister? OK dammit, I'm going for a ride....a long ride !!! Gongrats Dude !

Oh man, how I love spending other people’s money. If you removed the pegs and ugly yellow reflectors, then you need the matching shift red rear cowling! :moil:

You have figured out by now the stock mirrors are worthless. I just added the CRG Bar End Mirrors to a set of helibars and I can actually see what is behind me now. This morning, I took a spirited 2 hour test ride through the local municipalities to make sure I was comfortable with them. The stock mirrors have been removed and stored away. :beach:

I really want to see those HeliBars.... got a pic? Are they full-on clip-ons, or are they some sort of adapter brackets like on the FJR?

I fear HeliBars are quickly movoing to the top of the list of mandatory farkles..... :eh:

I'll try to get a picture of my bike this week. With all the cash I have put into the two bikes, I don't have a digital camera.

Here's a shortcut to the bars:
