This morning its a sunny day around 80 degrees and I walk out to the garage to get on the 06 FJR of 2 months. I notice the 04 Harley RoadGlide sitting there under the cover and it says to me "where have you been, why are you not riding me?" The guilt got to me and I decided to ride the Harley after it has sat for the last 2 months while I'd been riding the FJR. As I approach the end of the my street at the intersection I apply the brakes and the bike keeps going...right in to the intersection. Lucky for me no traffic! For a moment I thought the brakes had failed then I realized their was nothing wrong with the brakes, it was me. After riding the FJR and using 2 fingers to brake I had forgotten how much brake lever is required to haul the Harley to a stop (4 full fingers and the rear brake). I have gotten spoiled on the FJR. I like my Harley with all its faults but I LOVE this FJR. Thanks for the info I've gotten from you all on the Forum. It has helped a great deal in making adjustments and purchases for the bike. Hope to meet some of you at the EOM.

PS: Anyone want to buy a Harley :)

RoadGlide, I'm hooking-up a set of Hella's(more lights) to my 05 FJR and I took my 1995 Magna

to work today. It is a nice sunny day, temps high 60's on the way in, but will hit 80 by the time

I head home. I too miss the FJR when I ride my older bike, but the seating position of our old

bikes are a nice break from time-to-time. :D

ALl of us who own other bikes have gone through the same scenario. Scary, huh! First it's, "OmiGod, where are the brakes!" Then as one attempts a freeway on ramp its, "OmiGod, where is the acceleration?"

It is very difficult to explain these sensations and experiences to others who ask if this bike is better than the "Brand-Z" they are riding now.

You mean the ones like the 0-80 in five seconds I did yesterday from the commuter tree to the end of a short onramp? Yeah, reading about it just kinda leaves ya wanting. But we all understand, well maybe most of us.

This is a funny thread. Lately, I've been thinking that I'm beginning to try to drive my Jeep Grand Cherokee, or my wife's Honda Odyssey like it is the FJR. I keep thinking, damn, why am I not stopping as quick, or accelerating as quick? Why is my SO talking in my ear instead of wind whooshing through my helmet.

:D :D :D :D

It's summer, so my mind is always on riding.

lane position limitations of the cars irritates me lately.

My TLR has been missing me too. I do give her a rub and talk to her so she knows that I still care for her.

The biggest thing I notice when I ride my TLR after riding the FJR is how much lighter it is, but the FJR is much more comfy and has the convienance of the bags for carrying stuff.

Life is Good :D

I feel your pain my friend:

"where have you been, why are you not riding me?"

My Roadie just doesn't seem to be getting the same attention these days as it seems to have been regulated to bar hopin' duty. I'll give the Yamahog some credit though and that is she still makes the gals stop and look. Must be the way the rear fender wags at idle  In the final comparison though she doesn't stop worth a damn and handles like cr*p, but hey.... She looks good and is still a fun ride ... Just not as freakin' fun as the Feejr.

Oh yah ... The floorboards take a beating after I come off the Feejr. The poor thing.

PS: Anyone want to buy a Harley :)

I've bought a Honda V-65 Magna back in 83 and rode it until I sold it a couple of months ago.....Yes, I've always wanted a Harley before the Final act, but I attended my Sister's birthday party where her boyfriend ask me if I wanted to ride his Harley RoadKing....never had ridden a HD before so I gladly said YES before he changed his mind......I felt like I was riding on top of a cement truck....when I give it power, there was NO POWER,,,,My first thought was there was something was wrong with the bike, like the trottle was broken, or it was running on one cylinder, but it was slowly accelerating so I tried in vain to make it go by almost twisting the throttle off the handlebar and that's when it hit me.....THIS BIKE ISN'T BROKEN, IT'S JUST SLOWER THAN S--t compared to my HONDA.....Upon returning I ask him if he'd done any customized on the engine and his chest swelled up and he announced he'd spend $2,000 on engine high performance upgrades........... I remember sitting there thinking to myself OH MY GOD, IT WOULD TAKE A CRAZY MAN TO PAY THAT MUCH FOR A BIKE THAT WOULD SERVE ME BETTER AS BOAT ANCHOR THAN A RIDE! I dared not share my thoughts with him of course...

I continually ask myself what bike, other than a crotch rocket, would give me the power I was used to of my V-65 ( what used to be the World's fastest production Bike) and would have a windshield, cigarette lighter, beer holder, etc........ I had a deposit and for a HONDA RUNE, but when it arrived I went down to see it, and damn, yea it was cool but it was the bigger than my car!!!! NO WAY JOSE!!! Then, I almost bit on the HONDA VTX 1800, but I knew in my heart that wasn't the bike......So, I've waited, and THEN THE FJR!!!!! The minute I saw it, I KNEW!!!! HERE'S MY BABY!!!! I will be picking up my FJR AE tomorrow morn...I'm letting the dealer do most of the farkles.....LoJack, NGK Iridium Spark Plugs,Vista Cruise, Sliders (bought here) & Radar.....Gonna follow MOTOMAN's break in so, 20 tomorrow and then back to dealer for first oil change...then it's on to Wilbers or Olin shocks, but gonna put a pavement behind me first..

Enjoy the FJR...it will give you all the power and performance you could want and still be able to ride 1000 mile days. This is the bike for me.

Don't unnerstan the plug change tho-no extra horsies emerge once installed. They just holda tune longer. If thats the goal, have at it, but the originals will hold ya till winter unless your a mega miler.
