Dumb Way Around

These two men are riding around the world on 1937 and 1938 Nimbus sidecar rigs.

No chase truck

No support team

No TV crews

No electric jacket liners as their rigs still run 6VDC electrics.

Just leathers, half helmets and a liter of Aquavit (caraway Rye liquor)

"It is like drinking a slice of rye bread"

Tormod simply calls it anti-freeze

From here, they are riding to the SPAM® Museum in Austin. Tormod loves the stuff and was giddy that an actual museum exists.

After Austin, they plan a stop in Milwaukee to see motorcycle industry friends as well as Fuel Café.

After Milwaukee, they are riding to Vermont.

In December.

On sidecars.

Tough mofos, really tough.

Go Norge...enough Absynthe in the blood and you've got antifreeze.

I'm rooting for them.

Numb is about it, they were looking pretty frigid when I talked to them in St. Cloud last week. They were going thru oil faster then a Harley :yahoo: I told them they were putting us Ironbutt riders to shame on this adventure

The Nimbus riders are doing a little mid trip maintenance,

"We're doing steady progress with the bikes, though it takes time. I rather spend the time now though, and do it properly. We had pitting in on main bearing, which was a suprise. Also, some bent pressure plates for the clutch, and some burned valves. Minor things, but now we do it all. Attached pics is from today"

... and I think I'm doing pretty good if I do a mid trip oil change, 'corse I'm not going around the world.

Notice bare frame in the second pic
