Bought a pre-owned '08 on Monday. 390 miles on the odometer when I took delivery. I assumed it was still under factory warranty. Find out today the warranty expired at the end of July. Anybody know if there's a company out there that'll write a warranty for a motorcycle whose factory warranty has expired? I called the dealership where I made the purchase (they sell Honda, Triumph & BMW) and was told if I wanted a warranty I had to purchase it at the time of delivery. Had I known the factory warranty was expired (my bad for not inquiring) and had an aftermarket warranty been offered by the dealership at the time of sale I would've ponied up for it at that time.

that sounds fishy to me.

I would call our very above board and trustworthy dealership and ask about the warranty situation.

Many purchase extended warrantys from them after taking home their new bike.

You can purchase that as long as the new warranty is in effect, I believe.

I guess they say you are purchasing a used vehicle and the warranty started when it was sold as new.

The fact they didn't offer to sell you a warranty doesn't sound right. It was their responsibility to tell you it comes with no warranty and offer to sell you one. I would hope they would admit that when the area supervisor is called in as you should move this situation up the chain.

D&H Cycle, 18115 US Hwy 31, Cullman, AL 35058, 256-739-1840, 888-553-3311

then I would call the area supervisor for Yamaha and explain your situation.

I sure hope you get satisfaction, but in the end, I wouldn't personally sweat it as there are very few problems that crop up on new '08's and that's virtually what you have. I would put in the work to get it, but you might, in the end, hit a unmovable wall.

Best of Luck,

Mike in Nawlins'
