Has anyone used one of these yet? They can be used for a million applications but I'm going to use mine on my new HID driving lights... Its just a relay with a timer device in it. It is variable from 0-90 seconds. I was poking around and someone had this on a sport bike forum and it did JUST what I was looking for... One of the issues I have on my other bikes with HID is this. They use a standard 12v ign. power on.. Then the HID are powered on. When you hit your start button the HID are flashing on and off (trying to get power) until the bike starts... Probably not good on the ballast or the bike trying to start...

What this new relay allows to happen is this.. You can turn on your bike and the relay is triggered but is on the timer (0-90sec). You then can start your bike and after a predetermined amount of time the lights pop on like they should and your good to go(im going to set mine for about 5 sec).. No wear on the starter and associated components and no extra wear on the HID ballast....... I'm going to have to piggy back the 528t with a 30A Bosch relay because the 528t is only 15A.... No big deal.......

This should work AWESOME... After the install I will take pictures and maybe a short VID.... I wanted to pass on this info in case someone else had a project that needed power on a timer... Works great !!!!!! EBay or stereo joint $10 - $15....... 528t pulse Timer P/N 528t pulse timer relay DEI

Except for my GPS, all of my accessories are powered thru a relay triggered by a post-start "on" circuit.

The FJR already has a headlight relay that delays the lighting of the headlights until after the bike has started. If you turn the ignition on you will notice that the headlights aren't on until after you hit the starter. You can tie in the HID lights to this relay (which would be a logical choice) & there would be no need for the additional relay.

Also, with driving lights don't you want an ON/OFF switch? Do you intend to ride with them on all the time?

Besides I've used the headlight relay as a delayed source for the installation of a second fuse block for the same reasons: Another Way to Install a Second Fuse Block

Thanks... Your right.. Thanks for your info...

I'm going to add some driving lights as well, some Baja 4" HID.. but im going to do some other "things" with jumping relays and using the factory high beam / low beam switch.... (total of four (4) HID bulbs on the front) Is planning on incorporating one of the factory relays in my plan but I don't want it to get turned off when I turn on my "high beams" (driving lights)... Yes, I'm going to use the HID "driving lights" all the time..... BUT and that's a big B-U-T... I have some aluminum blockers that will inherently keep the optics to a true low beam... and on top of that I will still use the factory head light adjusters to keep the HID to a low and safe light level....

I don't want to start ANY type of HID discussion. That has been beaten down on WAY to many forums.... in the bad scenes....

I am not so sure about that....I have a HID setup on mine and about 50-70% of the time when I start her up, only one light fires. A couple things have got the second light going again: 1) turn the bike off and start it again...this usually works the first time but a few times I have had to start/stop the engine 2 or 3 times. 2) On the suggestion of another member, just today I tried just giving the bike a little gas and low and behold the second light lit up.

I was actually thinking I could wire a switch in the HID's that would override the ignition power, but this relay may be just the thing.
