CNN's crack investigation team has discovered a major fault with the 777 passenger plane:

Follow up in investigation is now showing that all aircraft might be effected by this issue.

"We are seeing evidence that any plane, regardless of type or make, seems to be unable to maintain altitude once the fuel tanks run dry. We have turned this information over to the FAA for their review "

In the good old days of the Boeing 707 (having 4 engines) ...

The plane just reached cruising altitude and the Captain announces, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've discovered a slight problem with one engine so we're shutting it down as a precaution. Don't worry, we'll still get you to our destination safely, but about 10 minutes late."

A bit later the Captain announces, "ladies and gentlemen, it seems we've a slight problem with another engine so we're shutting it down too. But don't worry, we'll still get you to our destination safely, perhaps around 30 minutes late."

By now the passengers are quite stressed and frustrated.

Yet again, a bit later the Captain announces, "ladies and gentlemen, it seems we've a slight problem with a third engine so we're shutting it down too. But don't worry, we'll still get you to our destination safely, perhaps around an hour late."

At that point, one particular passenger frustratingly blurts out, "Good grief! If that fourth engine shuts down, we'll be up here all day!"
