I have an motion pro carb sync with mercury in the gauges. When I hook everything up it seems the gauges 1,2,3, and 4 jump while idling from 220 to 240. Looks nothing like the videos I've watched online. They are all fairly close to each other, but very sporatic, not staying at one level. Could it be my gauge? Any ideas, comments??

Thanks,

Does it, perhaps, require restrictors in the vacuum tubes, that are not there? Check your manual.

Sure does Dan..

I went as far as measuring each tube so they were the exact same length and the restrictors were positioned in identical locations also ;)

While installing Tim's Cruise Control earlier this yer we hooked up a vacuum gauge to one of the vacuum ports.

The needle was all over the place!! I'd say from my best recollection it danced 6 inches from high to low at idle..

Poor ol' needle shook worse than a Parkinsons patient.

I did the same and still have slightly jumpy TBS readings. Now, to 'calm' them further, I bump idle up to around 1150-1200

The length of the tubes is not as significant as the restrictions, as far as minimizing the fluctuations. If all else fails, use your carbon based processor (aka brain) to find the center of each fluctuating column and try to get them matched up that way.
